Furniture Mimics - There are a variety of species of this type, ranging from ottomans to chairs to wardrobes, vanities, and bulky desks. Each camouflages itself as a different type of furniture, matching not only shape and color but even texture, until they attack and feed at least. This obviously works better in dungeon areas that appear to be domiciles or former domiciles. They each have nearly perfect Camouflage abilities, backed up by some woodlike DR and nasty Sharp teeth and claws that only come out when they ambush you. Determine ST and HTH damage based on the weight of comparable furniture and the formula for determining HP for living creatures. Unfortunately, one of the only sure ways to penetrate their mimicry is to try to use them as furniture; dressers may have a single large cavity behind closed double doors, but neither dressers nor desks have functioning drawers, and all types of chairs and sofas find it nearly irresistible to attack anybody who sits on one. On the other hand, the creatures' senses are pretty acute, and they have sufficient survival instincts to avoid attacking groups that seem too well armed *and* wary of them.

Possibly related species include Attack Rugs and Tapestries, Grave Shrouds, and the infamous Canker Room, which imitates a 10' by 10' room with an unguarded treasure chest in the middle of the floor, only to consume the unwary with closing, crushing 'walls' and the dripping of digestive acids. Also related may be the rumored Carnivorous House, but these are generally not found in the dungeon proper.
