She was disheveled and listless. Thanks to my four brothers growing up, I knew that look, that line to the shoulders, that said she was sick and tired of being coddled. I empathized, being somewhat in the same boat. So I said nothing on her appearance but put the sandwich and coffee on the table and took up a seat opposite her.
