Background

Viktoria Aleksievna Tikhonova was orphaned soon after she turned three and placed in a foster home. It was a good fit and soon after her fourth birthday she was legally adopted by her foster family. Of her origins, she knows nothing save her first name. Her birth records were sealed by the state. After she was adopted, Vikki took the name of her adoptive family, Tikhonov, and never looked back.

The Tikhonovs are solid blue collar workers. Aleksi Ivanovich is a fabricator at a ship yard, making parts big and small, for commercial utility ships. Elena Antonovna is a cafeteria cook at an elementary grade school. After several years of trying without success to have children of their own, they turned to adoption and found Vikki. Even before they took her home, they knew she was the daughter they'd been fated to have. Their humble circumstances required frugality out of necessity but the Tikhonovs were lavish with their love. Their devotion was unconditional, their support unstinting. Viki was not in the child services system for long but during her short stay, she'd seen enough: jaded teens languishing in the system, foster children demoralized from multiple failed adoptions. The Tiknonovs had saved her from such a fate and for this, and so much more, she was and ever will be grateful.

Physical Appearance

A little over medium height, slim, wiry, and infused with seemingly endless energy, Vikki can nevertheless blend into the background with her common coloring of brown hair and brown eyes. She keeps her hair short, just brushing her shoulders at its longest, and it is usually pulled back in a ponytail to keep it neat. She prefers to be well-scrubbed over being dirty and tries always to be presentable without being overly fussy. In dress she tends toward the simple and serviceable, neither expensive nor poorly made, in styles and colors that carefully avoid being dated or requiring high maintenance. She has a favorite messenger bag, in which she carries her beloved data pad and notebooks, and a cap she prefers over other headgear. Both are obviously old but wear like iron.

Psychological Profile

Sunny, optimistic, idealistic, ever ready to see the good in people, Vikki occasionally appears naïve. She believes that attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. Therefore she refuses to allow pessimism or despair to dominate her thinking or poison her outlook. She's also quite aware that being upbeat or wishing things better does not make it so. One must back up one's optimism with work, no matter how hard that work might be. She is conscientious, meticulous, and persevering, yet is wise enough to avoid perfectionism. She possesses a restless, hungry, curious mind and does what she can to gainfully employ it. Usually this means she's reading if she's not studying or inventing something. If unable to do that, she at least tries to stay occupied in pursuits not likely to annoy others. Her results are often mixed in that area but she tries nevertheless.

No one is perfect and even Vikki has her weaknesses: in the case of her parents, she's tried very hard to repay them for their devotion and the sacrifices they've made on her behalf. She is determined to elevate them from their current circumstances so that they may retire in comfort.
