"There are those who say that the Primarchs, the children of the Emperor are more concerned with sibling rivalry and personal glory than the fate of the Imperium. We must prove them wrong! We must show that all of you and your warriors can work together for your father, for the Imperium and most of all for the betterment of mankind its self.

To that end the Emperor has decreed that a new fleet be formed on that will see each of you commit a portion of your forces to it. They will co-operate, they will succeeded and they will become a guiding beacon to the rest of the Imperium that together we are stronger than anything"

-- Speech by Malcador the Sigillite to the assembled Primarchs

Introduction[edit]

It is a time of hope, under the benevolent leadership of the Emperor the fleets of the Great Crusade move across the galaxy reuniting the lost tribes of mankind. Many challenges await the brave warriors of the Emperor in the darkness beyond his realm. Foolish superstitions, cunning xenos and wilful men and women unwilling to bend the knee for the good of all.

Yet perhaps the greatest threat comes not from without but from within. For as always hate, jealousy and greed are easily able to buy mens souls.

Player Characters[edit]

Breilix Covarox, Night Lords Assault Marine[edit]

Description[edit]

Breilix has only been elevated into her assault squad for the last ten years, after spending a long time as a scout, much longer than average. Because of this, she feels pressured to prove herself, to her squad, to her company, to her Legion, and to her Primarch, with whom her ultimate loyalty lies - she's embarassed at how much time she had to spend in what she saw as training. She's responded to her feeling of pressure in two ways. First, she's taken to this with perhaps of a bit of an over-eagerness to sign up for any mission that might get her sent in as the fight on the front line. Second, she's fast to treat anything which could be construed as a slight about how the work that the Night Lords has done as a grave insult. This has already caused one serious problem for her, when a recently installed governor six months ago made a remark about how the Night Lords had butchered his new population in the pacification. He thought she was out of hearing range, but the speed at which she crossed the distance to him demonstrated that was false. Her squad leader prevented her from beating the governor to death, but merely seriously disfigured. This has not earned her any friendship among the Imperial Administrators.

Before being chosen to join the Space Marines, Breilix had been a gutter-rat orphan, as was common on her world. She had been 'fortunate', in that rather than being taken by a more murderous gang, she was instead enslaved by the Sons of Toil, a mining corporation. Work was brutal and constant, but it taught her how to sneak out and explore as well as shape her body so that that she would eventually be chosen. The one thing she truly enjoyed were those moments when she could sneak to the upper layers, where the wealthy lived, and study the architecture and art of the noble world. This helped her develop a resentment of the noble classes, but also fostered in her a love for art. One of the things she does when she's not training or fighting is studying sculpture and architecture. She's been known to lecture fellow Night Lords on how to more effectively arrange the corpse of a victim so that the light plays with the body better to be more terrifying and beautiful. She recognizes that the terror tactics of her Legion are morally reprehensible, but sees them in the light that they bring about a greater good - worlds subjugated by the Night Lords do not raise their arms in rebellion ever again, and there are rebellions which end at the mention of her Legion's approach.
