Lazarus Strength 8 Agility 6 Constitution 7 Intelligence 8 Education 9 Social (2d6=11) If I haven't used IC, I'd have rolled again. Seriously, one of my most important attributes gets a roll with a 1:18 odds roll? And a Knight title? Sounds like something people tend to make up. OTOH, now try and tell me titles aren't given at random... No changes, I actually like that spread, even if it wasn't what I expected. Bonus characteristics (1d6=3)

Strength 9 Agility 6 Constitution 8 Intelligence 9 Education 9 Social 12 (Baron Lazarus sounds even better-and I'm planning to blow through Standing rolls).

High Population: Streetwise 0 Industrialised: Trade 0 Formal education: Social Science 0

Enlistment-Navy (2d6+1=3) I fail to enlist, but what are connections for? (Also: my copy doesn't have the Draft, nor the Drifter...so it's that or nothing. If you prefer, I use the Draft, and an auto-success to get me in the Navy). First auto-success used up, and I get a shiny uniform! Also, I choose the Line/Crew career.

Pilot (any) -1 Vacc Suit -1 Zero-G -1 Gunner (any) -1 Mechanic -1 Gun Combat (slug throwers) -1

Auto-survival roll Event (2d6=4) You are given a special assignment or duty on board ship. Gain a +1 DM to any one Benefit roll.

Commission roll (2d6+2=13) Advancement roll (2d6+1=6) - failure, but I'm still commissioned.

Second term: Rolling on the officer table. And the PC starts taking anagathics NOW! Yes, this will get me to be the young-looking one. Also, it means I don't roll on the Aging table. I find it worth the effort. Rolling on the officer table (1d6=5) Admin Survival automatic second time. Advanvcement (2d6+1=10) Success! Obviously getting to Ensign level!

Event roll Events (2d6=7) Life Event!!! Life Event (2d6=11) Crime! Obviously, he was wrongfully accused. Losing one benefit roll, obviously the law help wasn't free! Also, I hate those guys that tried to knock me down with fabricated accusations!

Let's speed this up now. Officer table (survival automatic) 2+3: Advancement 4+5: Event table (1d6=3, 1d6=1, 1d6=4, 1d6=1, 1d6=1) I get Pilot. No advancement this time. Event: Disaster! Disaster (1d6=1) Injured in action. OK, I'll take the "roll twice, take lowest" option.

Injury (1d6=6) 1d6=6 Once again, I get lucky: Lightly injured, no permanent effect!

Personal advancement table (1d6=1) +1 Str Strength 10 Agility 6 Constitution 8 Intelligence 9 Education 9 Social 12 (Baron Lazarus sounds even better-and I'm planning to blow through Standing rolls).

Survival (1d6=5) OK, I had to roll 2d6, but that's actually enough, with my +1 DM(ing skill, got to assume)! Advancement Event (2d6=7, 2d6=7) Advancement once again! And Life Event! Life Event (2d6=6) Romantic Relationship! (If that's indeed the first time, Lazarus is a late bloomer... Or maybe one-night stands don't count. Still late bloomer, but confirms a number of stereotypes for navy guys.)

Rolling on the officer table next. 1d6=1 Leadership! Survival (2d6+1=10) No issues. Advancement Event (2d6=5, 2d6=5) No advancement, but advanced training...maybe! Education 8+ (2d6+1=5) No, not this term. Bonus (1d6=4) Well, Melee (Blade) - duelling is obviously still alive and strong!

Time to muster out, I think. Yeah, sure, like I would stop... Survival (2d6+1=5) Still a success! That's why I picked Crew/Line, after all. Advancement, Event (2d6=7, 2d6=8) Advancing to third rank, event: Diplomatic mission! Recon/Diplomacy 1 Officer table (1d6=4) Melee 2! Obviously, this mission could have been more peaceful... probably negotiating a ceasefire. Survival (2d6+1=7) Success! Advancement Event (2d6=9, 2d6=8) Advancement! And another diplomatic mission! I'm getting better and better at them, obviously. Recon +1, keep the diplomats alive.

Bonus (1d6=4) Melee 3! I'm good enough to open a school now! Well, I guess people from my ship would have fun with the practice. Survival (2d6+1=5) Still good enough. Advancement Event (2d6+1=7, 2d6+1=8) Oops, Events don't get DMs (being DMless...), so removing 1 from the Event gives us a Life event!

Life Event (2d6=10) Good Fortune: Good Fortune: Something good happens to the character; he comes into money unexpectedly, has a lifelong dream come true, gets a book published or has some other stroke of good fortune. Gain a +2 DM to any one Benefit roll from his current career. I published a book for my diplomatic participation.

One more term Personal Advancement (1d6=6) Social gets 13!!! That's too fun to stop now. Survival Roll (2d6+1=12) Success! Advancement Event (2d6=3, 2d6=10) No advancement, same event as before: Happy times! Obviously my book on blade use was published as well!

Personal Development (1d6=1) +1 Str, so Str 11! Personal Development (2d6+1=5) Err, I obviously rolled for Survival, but wrote the last line again. So, success! Advancement, Event (2d6=8, 2d6=10) Advencement: Check, event: Again! I think that's when FERA contacted Lazarus and made him a very lucrative offer. For after he retires. Rolling 1d6s so: Personal development, Survival+Survival, Advancement+Advancement, Event+Event (1d6=2, 1d6=1, 1d6=5, 1d6=6, 1d6=3, 1d6=3, 1d6=6) +1 Agility, Survival successful, Advancement successful. Life event: You foil an attempted crime on board, such as mutiny, sabotage, smuggling or conspiracy. Gain an Enemy, but also gain a +2 DM to your next Advancement roll in the Navy. That was the 11th term! I think that's enough, he's 62 now, although he looks like a 22-yo. And damn if I would allow the enmity with this guy to hinder the Navy! OK, I was going to have another term, but I actually rolled and closed the tab. So, link lost, and I can't be bothered to retrieve it, because Invisible Castle is acting up on me. Besides, 44 years of active duty should be enough! Time to use my 22yo-looks!

Mustering out! And I've got 10 rolls, since I lost one due to an event. I'm going to roll the first 3 for money, with a +1, +2 and +2 bonus, and a +2 bonus to the next one. Cash+1 Cash+2 Cash+2 Bonus+2 Bonus Bonus Bonus Bonus Bonus Bonus (1d6=6, 1d6=1, 1d6=4, 1d6=1, 1d6=1, 1d6=2, 1d6=6, 1d6=2, 1d6=2) And one more roll because I only rolled nine dice. Mustering out bonus (1d6=3) So, 7, 3, 6 for cash give me 105k credits. 3, 1, 2, 6, 2, 2, 3 +2 Education +1 Agility + 3 Intelligence A Contact (the rest of them died out, I guess...).
