Jehanin Louet, Human Swashbuckler[edit]

Physically, Jehanin is undersized and might kindly be called wiry in build. His hair is rapidly greying from sandy brown and has thinned significantly on top with a patch at the front. He wears it in a braid behind the head and cadenettes (little pigtails) before the ears. His face is clean-shaven, thin and lined. Were he to open his mouth one would see several teeth missing and his eyes are a washed-out grey. Typically he will be clad in a hard-worn uniform that began as dark green but is now somewhat faded and worn but scrupulously clean and in excellent repair with similarly-well-used boots to match. His rapier is as slim and diminutive as he is and kept in a simple leather scabbard with brass fittings. Alignment: TN Deity: (TBC) Attributes: (25 point point buy)

Hireling - Ferry Bellehache has been by Jehanin's side for many years now and the two have a moderately friendly relationship which, along with 5sp a day has kept Ferry firmly beside his employer. His role is largely to make camp and look after Jehanin's needs when not out on an active adventuring and to keep an eye out for anything Jehanin might be interested to know about. When together they sleep in a medium tent which is laid out in moderate comfort with a good supply of fresh food and water kept handy as both have gone hungry before and neither likes the idea of doing so again. He has a mule which he can ride at need and which carries most of their kit, including Jehanin's dress uniform and (rarely-worn) civilian clothing.

Ferry himself is somewhat broader and taller than Jehanin, not that this says much. His more sedentary lifestyle and love of good food and wine gives him a slight paunch and his friendly, helpful and relaxed demeanour tend to make him a welcome contrast to his stiff and high-strung employer. His hair is also prematurely grey but thick and worn in a simple ponytail. He tends to dress in a simple loose trousers and an old soldier's jacket though he maintains a dress uniform of his own when his master requires him to look more impressive. He also keeps his old sabre quietly concealed in their tent just in case.

Medium Tent - Jehanin and Ferry sleep in a medium tent with camp beds when at base. The tent also contains Jehanin's dress uniform and other sundries. Jehanin travels light when out adventuring but

"Jehanin." The colonel sighed. "What do I have to do to put a stop to this behaviour?"

"Sir, I was defending the King's honour! Is that not my duty?" Undersized by malnutrition in his youth and now beginning to go bald in his early thirties the captain before him was not an impressive figure even in the magnificent uniform of the Kings Light Cavalry. If you were not aware of his deadly reputation

"Defending the King's honour is one thing, challenging a captain of his personal guard to a duel because of some personal slight is quite another!" The colonel kept his voice quiet but his anger made him add "If you weren't a damn good soldier in an actual war you'd be drummed out of the service by now. As it is you're a damned liability-"

"Sir!"

"Silence damn your arse! I've had enough of your idiocy! You're reassigned as of now to the reclamation expedition. If you succeed, maybe you can work your way into my good graces again, if you die then you cease to be my problem and if the expedition fails then you will take your disgrace somewhere else or I will personally use you for target practice!"

"Sir." The smaller soldier vibrated with aggrieved pride but held himself at attention by an effort of pure will.

"Dismissed." The colonel waved him away and waited for the sond of angry boots to fade. Jehanin might be the best soldier in the regiment when the fighting started but the man seemed to have a chip on his shoulder that no kind of glory could knock loose. Still, he would be someone else's problem now and he had made damn sure there was no-one else on the expedition who could honourably be challenged to a duel. He'd just have to hope that would be enough.
