Peter Parker[edit]

Peter Parker’s parents died when he was young, and he was taken in my his aunt and uncle. His uncle had been an adventurer in his younger years, travelling the world exploring dangerous places and unearthing mysterious artefacts. When his uncle passed away, he left one particular item for Peter. Peter remembered the mysterious green ring from his uncle’s stories of his travels, and he said it could create and manipulate strange green energy. However, the young man was yet to discover the journey that he would have to make because of this ring…

Indigo/Braniac 8[edit]

Long, long ago, a highly advanced civilisation built a series of super-powered androids. Known as the Brainiac series, they were sent out into the universe at large to use their abilities for the good of its people. One such android is Brainiac 8, who goes by the name of Indigo. Aged over the course of her long existence, she looks like an old woman - albeit one with unusually coloured skin and hair - but her power is immense. She is able to manipulate energy in a vast variety of ways, can fly and produce force fields, is far stronger than most beings and capable of self-repair through nanites.

In her travels across space, Indigo once visited Earth, where she met the adventurer Ben Parker. The two became good friends, and she would often visit his family when near Earth. She had not been present at his funeral, but shortly after his death, she arrived with a warning for his nephew Peter, for the ring that he had inherited was more powerful and dangerous than it seemed…

Jefferson Pierce/Magni[edit]

In a far-off region of space lies Asgard, home to a people of great might whose mastery of both technology and magic so advanced as to be indistinguishable led the humans they first made contact with to take them as gods. One such Asgardian was Thor, who wielded the mighty hammer Mjolnir. His might was matched only by his pride, and for his foolish behaviour his father cast him out of Asgard to Earth, sealing his powers into Mjolnir such that only the worthy could lift the hammer. Over the course of his life on Earth, Thor learned humility and developed a true noble spirit, but he never found the hammer that would allow him to return to his homeland.

Centuries later, Thor’s father still ruled over Asgard in his great age, the last of the royal family. Yet on Earth, the blood of Thor lived on in his descendants. Eventually, the fateful day came when one such descendant discovered his birthright Mjolnir, and with it the vast powers of Thor. According to official records, he is named Jefferson Pierce, but in truth he is Magni, rightful king of Asgard, and the day of his return approaches.

Katar Hol/Hawkeeye[edit]

Katar Hol is one of Thanagar's top police officers. As his people had mastered flight technology in the form of wings made from gravity-distorting "Nth metal", aerial criminals were a significant problem, and it was thanks to Katar's mastery at taking them down with his specialised bow and arrow that he became known as "Hawkeye".

khaji Da/Blue Beetle[edit]

While a great many sapient species across space have forms close to that of Earth's humans, there are others who are quite distinct, amongst whom are the insectoid Brood. As might be inspected of a people who evolved from insects, their societies are highly regimented, with all Brood being deeply devoted to their hive's Queen, and they are serious and hardworking. While the Brood are typically insular, they do interact at times with other peoples, sending workers trained for the job from birth. One such Brood is Khaji Da, nicknamed "The Blue Beetle" by his friends of other species for the blue exoskeleton, a sign of the mutation which gives him abilities beyond those of his hivemates.

Like all Brood, Khaji Da possesses great strength and durability, is able to endure harsh conditions (even the vacuum of space), and can adapt his form to the situation at hand, reshaping his powerful stingers into different weapons. The Brood evolved from a parasitic species who evolved together in symbiosis with their hosts to the point of effectively becoming a single creature. When at risk of death Khaji Da can eject his brain, stored in a scarab-shaped shell and capable of independent movement, from his body, but this leaves him vulnerable unless he hijacks the body of another living creature. He has a telepathic link to other Brood of his hive, though it is limited to fairly close range, and as a dipomat worker, he is naturally capable of understanding any other language. His mutation also provides him with the ability to fire energy blasts or form a defensive energy shield, and he heals much faster than other Brood.

Thaal Sinestro/The Cyborg[edit]

Known for his fearlessness and honour, Thaal Sinestro was one of Korugar’s greatest defenders against the threats of the universe. However, he came to feel that he did not have enough power to protect the people, and so underwent a radical process of removing many of his body parts and replacing them with mechanical ones. Now far stronger and tougher than before, capable of flight and travel through space, Thaal Sinestro is the Cyborg, and one of the greatest of his people.

Harry Osbourne[edit]

In his time at school, Peter Parker was bullied a lot, and didn’t have many friends. Of those he did have, the closest was undoubtably Harry Osborn. While the two were very different, they were nonetheless inseperable friends, and when Harry learned of the journey Pete would have to take to destroy the Power Ring, he set his mind immovably on going with his friend.

the Alpha Flight[edit]

And thus it was decided, as these seven from across the universe were gathered together, that they would travel to Source Wall at the end of the universe, and cast the Power Ring beyond it into destruction. It was much wiser than throwing the accumulated armies of the worlds they represented at the problem; such a large group would be far more noticeable, and when super-powered beings are involved a point comes where numbers are irrelevant. “You are the first to attempt such a journey,” it was declared. “And so you shall be known as the Alpha Flight.”

Thanos[edit]

A being of great power, Thanos was obsessed with the concept of death, essentially to the point of falling in love with an abstract idea. To spread death across the universe, he created 9 Power Rings, each containing the power of several stars compressed into a single point. Feigning benevolence, he gave these rings to the leaders of great civilisations across space, only for the rings’ power to corrupt them into his undead servants. He waged a war of death against all the universe’s lifeforms, and eventually he came upon the ultimate power he needed - the Anti-Life Equation. As even his mind was unable to fully comprehend it, he sealed much of his power together with half of the Equation into a green ring of his own. However, the day came when Thanos was slain in battle, and his hand with the ring severed from his arm. Since then he has been little more than a malevolent will, commanding his servants in search of the Ring which would allow him to return and use the Anti-Life Equation to kill the universe.

Juggernaut/Chase Stein[edit]

When Chase Stein followed Peter Parker into space for the chance to see the stars, he had no idea that he would become involved in galactic war, nor that he would find the ancient super-technological artefacts known as the Gauntlets of Cyttogon and become known as the Juggernaut.

Jason Todd[edit]

Going into space with three kids he knew from school was a big change for Jason Todd, but the skills he’d learned on the streets in his childhood proved to be of use, even light-years away from anything familiar.

Braniac 1[edit]

Great power, and the chance of obtaining even more, can corrupt even the greatest beings, and now Brainiac 1 has allied himself with Thanos.

Black Lanterns[edit]

While less powerful than the ring he forged for himself, the rings Thanos gave out to the great leaders of the day still held mighty powers of energy manipulation. Corrupted by the rings and the will of Thanos, the nine ring-wielders are now the Black Lanterns.
