Augustus nath Gajom, Emperor of Mars:

Primary Skills: Leadership; Contacting, Resources

Antonius's father and the undisputed Emperor of Mars. He is a wise and just ruler, and a very good, if more than slightly reserved, father. He is a skilled politician but, somewhat to his cost, also honorable to a fault, which has resulted in more than one situation his wife and brother, both of a more practical bent, have had to get him out of. Relations between he and Antonius are warm, and the two truly understand each other. He's a healthy, distinguished, man of about 60.

Valeria vath Telles, Empress of Mars:

Primary Skills: Rapport; Contacting, Deceit

Valeria is Antonius's mother, of one of the oldest and most respected families on Mars. She's scheming, beautiful, manipulative, and ruthless. She's the perfect villainess for a space-opera except for two simple facts: She's head over heels in love with her husband, and loves and treasures her children even more. So she turns her extensive talents towards their betterment. She is the unofficial spy-mistress and and political expert. She takes care of the necessary things her husband can't or won't do to uphold his rule due to his code of honor, usually without informing him. Antonius loves his mother, and she loves him, but the two really have very little in common, and she worries a great deal about him "Too much like his father" has been known to leave her lips about him. She's a very well preserved 50 or so.

Marcus nath Gajom, Crown Prince of Mars:

Primary Skills: Leadership; Contacting, Resolve

Marcus has something of the best of both his parents, with a certain degree of his father's code, combined with his mother's ruthless practicality, and a willingness to do what's necessary for the greater good. He is, if anything, even more emotionally reserved than his father, but otherwise a very nice, polite, man. He's also the best older brother anyone could ask for, and has gotten Antonius out of more scrapes than he can count. He's around 28 years old.

Claudia vath Gajom, Princess of Mars and Ambassador to the Tenethian Republic*

Primary Skills: Rapport; Deceit, Athletics

Antonius's big sister inherited her mother's beauty in full measure, and a sense of swashbuckling adventure from wherever Antonius got his. She's a skilled martial artist and acrobat, and known for breaking hearts wherever she goes, as well as for being a skilled liar, and one of the most charming people in existence. She was shipped off as an Ambassador when the war started mostly to keep the second in line for the throne in a safe place, but has found that the position rather agrees with her. She and Antonius, as the two closest in age, were very close growing up, and got into and out of trouble together on a regular basis. The two are still very close. She's around 24-25, maybe a year older than Antonius.

Octavius nath Gajom, Prince of Mars and Court Scientist in training

Primary Skills: Science; Mysteries, Engineering. Note: Peaks at Great.

Antonius's little brother is something of a mystery to the rest of the family, being quiet and introspective, and far preferring to go work in his lab to any other activity. He's quite a bit younger than Antonius, maybe 19 or so.

Claudius nath Gajom, aging Prince of Mars, Court Scientist, duelist and womanizer

Primary Skills: Science; Rapport, Weaponry

Augustus's younger brother, Antonius's uncle and weapon's trainer, and Trouble with a capital 'T'. He's a flamboyant adventurer, very much the black sheep of the family, particularly known for his affairs with married women, which he has never used his family connections to defend him from. He is also immensely charming, and has confided in Antonius before he left Mars that a great deal of the inappropriate behavior was specifically to keep him from being used against his brother as Antonius could be. He's a rakish man in his mid 50's. he fights with a plasma torch specifically modified to have the heft and balance of a sword (re; lightsabre). He designed it himself.

  • The Tenethian Republic is the nation on Venus that holds the single, permanently open, Stargate-style, portal that connects Venus and Mars. It's been there as long as anyone can remember, can't be moved, and can't be shut off.

Note: I came up with these (at least in rough outline) before anyone else even posted their characters. Any resemblances are entirely coincidental.
