Recap of the first American Gods arc, In God We Trust

In God We Trust, part I[edit]

We join the lives of Brian Jaffe, Jack Bennett, Arthur Redford and Mandy Smith as they arrive at Boston/Logan International Airport, all bound for Los Angeles, California. Each makes their way through the airport on a fateful morning - September 11, 2001, and intersects with the lives of others who share their destiny as they board American Airlines Flight 283. This includes young mother Julie Young and her two children, Maggie and Alex, as well as Brian's Personal Assistant Vivian Janell, the young, comic book loving Ian Harrison and the elderly Rosalie Rosey Brown. But once in the air, their destiny becomes apparent - terrorists seek to take this plane at the cost of anyone standing in their way!!

In God We Trust, part II[edit]

Terrorists had bellowed out orders for everyone to get to the back of the plane, but a few brave, desperate passengers wouldn't let this happen. They strike back at the terrorists! In the midst of the resistence, several are killed and someone yells out "They've just crashed a plane into the World Trade Center in New York!!"... This fateful day is September 11, 2001! With aid, Arthur Redford manages to overpower the terrorists, killing nearly all of them with the constructed AK-rifle taken from their leader. Communications are poor, this is a dark day for America - this "fifth plane" has been retaken by the passengers. Unfortunately the Vice President was unaware, or perhaps didn't want the risk, as four F-15 Eagles respond to his order: "take her out of the sky"!!

Coming Out Party[edit]

Missles, an explosion, then BLACKNESS... Awoken - cold, sore, and tired. The passengers of Flight 283 find themselves in individual rooms blindingly stark white. They each lay on their own thin matress, more laboratory table than bed. Each seperated in a larger facility room by room each passenger awakes finding themselves incubated with extreme muscle atrophy. Sounds are blurred and slurred slowly coming into focus. Their eyes blind until they readjust to being used. The passengers react differently accross the board - some docile, some actively irrate. All are forced to wait. Slowly they start to realize the enviroment is alien but strangely familiar. Placated by a "councilor" our main characters request more. Soon they're given tidbits of information - enough to demand they speak with their fellow "survivors". They've just learned that four years have passed and for all intents and purposes - they're prisoners of a corportation called Celera!!

Meet the Press[edit]

As demanded the Survivors are allowed to gather in the open air atrium of Celera's Seattle Branch - a DNAlaboratory called Seattle Genetics. The survivors begin to learn they've awoken "changed", some begin exhibitting abilities beyond human! In the midst of the gathering a young woman reacts to seeing her pregnacy has been terminated in those missing years - she blasts a sonic wave taking all but a few of the survivors off their feet. Following much debate one survivor who's power signature seems to dwarf others, sweeps his hand and escapes with the Survivors to Celera's Washington DC facility - where they've learned is the holding facility for the child ripped from the womb. The crowd disperces most confused just wanting to go home - but Arthur Redford finds evidence that something strange is happening with Celera. The child is dead as told by Celera officials, but they are surprised to learn there are FIVE children - all apparently the same child at different age stages being autopsied...

the Crash[edit]

Following the strange events in Washington DC, the Survivors open themselves to the world. Lead by Brian Jaffe several Survivors take the stage of a surprised Celera-NSA Press Conference giving the ??? address. Inter-cut are the events of the night prior a private meeting at a hip Georgetown restaraunt to discuss the direction the next day's conference would take. Interupted by the crash of a city bus and a taxi cab - our heroes rush into action learning that their special abilities are truly godlike...
