1)The TNtbh was greatly hindered by not having an armor bonus, so I added the armor bonus, like I said I was going to, while also giving each set of armor these Damage Reduction rolls:
Ashigaru - 1k1 DR
Light - 2k1 DR
Heavy - 2k2 DR
2) While at first I was unsure as to where to apply the Akodo technique to ignore armor, it quickly became apparent. The Lion either gets a free raise or ignores armor, in this case it would seem that the free raise is most probably meant, but not limited, to being applied towards extra damage. So what I decided was that the Lion can either ignore the armor's TN bonus or the Damage Reduction, but no longer gains a free raise.
3) The Hida technique was a hard one. After much debated playtesting it was decided that it worked the best left alone. So the Hida technique gives double armor bonus to TNtbh. Does nothing for Damage Reduction.
4) The length of combat was only lengthened by 1 round on average. Meaning that, when averaged over 10 rounds, the average rounds per battle was 4. The new armor rules made the average raise to 5. Doesn't seem to greatly drag out combat to me.
After all was said and done, my players enjoyed the armor rules better this way. The Crab player said that they no felt that their techniques were actually effective against a Lion now, who before could completely ignore one of their techniques and take away their best advantage. They still can, but now they have a DR to back it up. No complaints from any of them and lots of praise.
