BDH: Ship Advancement
Like characters, the ship earns experience that can be spent on advancements. Ships earn 1 xp per episode. Players are also permitted to donate character experience to ship advancement spends.
Ship advancement may require more fictional support than character advancement due to the labor and materials required to justify improvements.
Tier 0[edit]
Tier 0 changes (swapping features with no xp cost during or after the first episode) will be considered on a case by case basis and require consensus from the group, but as a general rule the ship is the ship.
Tier 1[edit]
- Swap out one (1) Designation SFX for another: 1 Experience May not swap out Hinder
- Swap out one (1) Signature Asset SFX for another: 1 Experience

- Add a Signature Asset SFX: 3 Experience Signature Assets may have a max of one (1) SFX. Signature Assets may have a max of two (2).
- Step up a Signature Asset from to : 3 Experience
Custom SFX guidelines may be found in the Prime handbook on pages 61-63 (excepting limits). Do not use the guidelines for distinctions found on pages 191-213.
Tiers 4+[edit]
- Add a custom Ship's Designation SFX: 4 Experience Ship Designations may have no more than three (3) SFX apiece, including Hinder
- Step up one ship Attribute (Hull/Systems/Engines):
Note: Fictional justification must always accompany any upgrade to ship Attributes.
