issue # 6:2[edit]

  • "Homecomings part I" , July 21, 2005.
    • PREVIEW: The Survivors have their day with the press, but will the events of the night prior have any reprecussions. Meanwhile, literally dozens of survivors learn they have unusual abilities as they make their way homeward. As each Survivor learns being godlike isn't easy.
    • RECAP: We are reminded of the events leading up to the Press Conference announcing the Survivors to the world. Following their aiding the bus/taxi accident in Georgetown the Survivor group rushed to escape the cameras and emergency services. Brain and Mandy rush away with a group of 20+ onlookers following as Agent Marks orders Arthur to get Jack's lifeless body to a hospital. Brian and Mandy escape with new revelations of their powers as Jack finds his way from an astral plane back into his body. Some two hours later the Survivors and their extended group settle for the night at Arthur's father's apartment building, waiting for the Press Conference near the Lincoln Memorial the next day. Questions pummel the Survivor panel and Brian takes most of them with grace. Only Arthur and Jack would surprise the world with blunt statements (Arthur) and undecernable language (Jack). The group is greeted off the stage by NTAC, a new branch of Homeland Security assigned to the passengers of AA Flight 283. Now the survivors seperate to return home to settle with their families, planning to see how the world will react to them if not react FOR them, when they next return to the Lincoln Memorial...

issue # 7:2[edit]

  • "Homecomings part II" , July 28, 2005.
    • PREVIEW: Given time to regain their center's, find themselves in the struggle of these newfound abilities - in this newfound world... A melancholy is cast as the Survivors return home for the first time following 4 years of being "lost". For some the homecoming will be joyous, for many it can not be. To paraphrase a poem for this issue's theme... "The winter here is cold and bitter, chilled to the bone. Haven't seen the sun for weeks. To long - to far from home. Feel like I'm sinking and claw for solid ground. Pulled down by the undertow. So it's better this way, having seen this place before. Where everything we say and do, hurts us all the more. Its just that we stayed away, too long. Pulled down by the undertow. Never thought I could feel so low. Oh darkness I feel like letting go. With all of my strength and all of my courage, come and lift me from this place... Full of grace. Full of grace."
    • RECAP: The group split for their homecomings. Mandy stays in DC not wishing to see her brothers and Ladder family for her personal demons, but is able to do some good stopping the robbery of a DC convenient store. Arthur finds his best friend who happens to be his father and saves his life after giving him a heart attack. Jack finds his mother and they pick up where they left off ending both passed out from the night of binge drinking. Brian finds his life collapsed with his parents divorced and the family home sold. He and his dad share words but not worlds...
