Background[edit]

Dark skinned and serious, covered with many intricate tattoos, Balthazar is cool , calculating and a shrewd judge of character. He answers to the name of Zaitun. His nickname since a child in his Father's household. Very private, his voice is rich but quite effeminate. boyish good looks..which he keeps wrapped at all times. His hair is worn long and wrapped in a green turban.

Balthazar is the 7th child of his father Lord Marmaduke, a cousin of the prince of Molasaria and from the southern reaches of the land. Marmaduke went to the Princpalities of the Crusades, took a local Ta'ashim wife and fathered six daughters. Then along came Balthazar... Little Olive to his parents.

He was taught in the dark arts by his mother's brother, a Ta’ashimi warlock and then by a Djadadji in his father's entourage.

Combining elements of both faiths, the young warlock studied under various sufis, building his powers and at last gaining possession of a powerful relic ...the skeletal foot of a Dervish and rumored controller of Desert spirits.

The Ritmah Casket or Juniper box in the Klav language, is a finely carved wooden Icon chest that contains said relic and the Seven Blessed Bottles of Djinn.

The warlock also carries a brazier and a sack of blessed charcoal, made from the same wood as the casket, which fuels the all consuming fire that ultimately destroys any undead caught in the bottles.

I reckon Balthazar probably does some whirling dervish dancing when trying to capture his spirits.

Clothes: Loose green robes, green turban. Dervish garb. Armour: Black and red mail, Looks: dark skinned, long black hair, olive skinned, wide almond shaped eyes. effeminate voice. Hard eyes

Djadadjii[edit]

Using a combination of a holy icon containing a relic and specially prepared bottles of silver, crystal or glass, the Djadadjii can trap immaterial undead or those in gaseous form. The bottle is then sealed with a stopper, the being will be held within until the bottle is broken or opened. Destruction of the bottle and its occupant can usually be most effectively done by means of a large, fierce fire.

Method: The bottle must be placed unstoppered on the ground the Djadadjii must then endeavour to position the undead between the icon and the bottle. Once it is in position the Djadadjii makes a MA versus the undeads MD, if he suceeds the creature is drawn into the bottle. The bottle must be stoppered within three rounds or the creature will escape, and likely be most displeased.

Costs: The bottles must be specially manufactured ( At a cost of 5 florins each) and blessed by a priest or other holy man, they must remain unsullied by liquids or other substances before they are used. They can not be 'recycled'. The Icon must be at least of 30 florins value and must contain a holy relic. When the bottle is used the Djadadjii must drop a small amount of his blood into the bottle to 'bait' the trap. ( 1 hp).
