Autocrat of the covenant of Gimont, Bernard the Elder grew up in Auch, and worked hard to pay for his education. He became apprenticed to a local advocate, and studied law underneath him - eventually graduating to practice law himself. His successes there gave him a reputation for careful deliberation and fair treatment; something he would use to take a more active, political role in Auchs. The Covenant was in need of a man knowledgeable in the law, and in organising public affairs and hired Bernard for his expertise. He oversees the affairs of the Covenant, and brings any difficulties to the magi's attention.
