Lupus[edit]

Lupus might have become a savant, a doctor, a general, as he looked bright enough as a kid. That is, he might have, if he wasn't born to a slavegirl.
He was young enough when they sold him to a ludus owner. He was a young man when he fought in his first fight. And he was just slightly older when the mob chose death for a fallen enemy.
It almost tore his heart to kill the guy, who looked at him with pleading eyes. Since then, he was drinking heavily. This being the norm among gladiators, nobody cared, including himself. Besides, he was a favourite among the crowd - especially women - because he simply looked well. He has managed to avoid the scars that could mar his appearance, too, and is possessed of a small bit of vanity. Not enough to learn something about fashion, though.
Now he is a free man, having bought himself out with the money he amassed from gifts and betting on himself. The gifts came mostly from upper-class citizens who wished his company for one reason or another, or a service from a man with his skills.
He still drinks, though. But sometimes, he shows pity - an almost unheard-of trait among gladiators. He doesn't understand what is driving him to do this, either. Maybe it was the memory of his first victim's eyes. Or maybe he never wanted to hurt people in the first place - although he's good at it, and though as old leather as he approaches his middle-age. He only does this when it's personal, though. His duty to his patron and his own dream to have a ludus and pass on his skills trumps everything else.

Passions[edit]

  • Mission: Become rich, influential, and have his own ludus
  • Duty: Help his associates to become as influential as possible, with Gauis Saturninius as their liekly public face.
  • Craving: Sleep with as many good-looking girls as possible
