Aoi has had a good life, overall. She starred in a couple of commercials when little more than a toddler, graduated to TV and the occasional movie and got fairly well known. Then she took up Idol Singing and took off. But she knew, more than anyone else, that it couldn't last, and left to become a Voice Actor.

As a result, she's very well known in Japan. Somewhat less elsewhere, but she still has her moments of fame and groupies.

This is a problem, because in addition to all that, she's the heiress to an ancient mystical tradition - the Waves of the Wind, a martial art that is as much magic as it is art. She's good at it, but she needs to get better. For now, her mother and grandmother uphold the tradition, but it will eventually be her turn.

She came to Hong Kong to get away from the overwhelming publicity she faced elsewhere, hoping she could train in peace. Alas, peace was not to be - in her case, aside from rivals and sparring, she had to deal with Bi Zhi Qi, a 15 year old who attached herself to Aoi early on. Aoi's delighted to have a girlfriend, but Bi is often jealous, very inquisitive, and a little insecure - and Aoi is expected to keep the secret of the Waves of the Wind until she herself has daughters.
