Background[edit]

Hasek was a hunter from a young age, and got invested in training some of the domesticated canines used by those who dared to echo the Wolf in hunting their prey, albeit in the light of day and in numbers. He began to grow over confident in his ability though, and in a very foolish effort to impress a young woman named Tara in his village, struck out at night and on his own.

Naturally, he got lost and found himself shivering in the cold dark, shapes moving just out of sight but seeming to prowl closer. In the ed, one of them lunged at him and he fell to claws and teeth concealed in shadow, not realizing until it was over that he had been joined with the creature, not destroyed. The Dark had found a hook in a human soul and had no plans to yet go.

Hasek stands between humanity and his Horror, still part of their community, but also distant due to his aloofness and the demands of the Dark and its duty towards imparting lessons to humanity. Hearth came first and ensures he doesn't hunt alone, then came Zayla and Daras, the former being closest to him then any other due to them both being primal hunters and, from time to time, lovers.
