DC Sidekicks in WWII

House Rule #1A[edit]

Long distance speeds.

This is what I don't like about M&M is that movment speeds are vague and reality is the differance between a world record runner and an average runner are fractions of a an ability piont. Plus there is big differane between short moderate and long distance.

Human speeds are about:
Average walking is 1-1.5 m/s or 4 to 5.5 kph or 2.5 to 3.5 mph. (Everyone walks at about the same speed)
Maximum short distance human speed is about 12 m/s or 26.8 mph.
Maximum marthon speed is about 19 Kphs or 12 miles per hour. About Half short distance speeds.

It been said in a short race a man can beat a horse, but after 20 yards, the horse is unbeatable.

Keep in mind these are human maximum, not 0. Lets say that world class ability is ability of 3 (Note World record STR requires a lift of about 4 or 3 and +1 to skill)

At level 3 you can run 16 mph for long distances (Several miles) or about twice that for short distances

That means at at 0 an out of shape joe smoe with no athletics can run 2.5 miles an hour for a long distance. Not much differnt from walking at a brisk pace. If her takes extra effort he can run 5 miles in an hour. This sounds about right.

Mighty Maid's Level 7 flight mean she can fly at 320 mph Amazon Kid has running at 2 and athletics lets Kid add +1 to speed meaning Kid is running at 20 miles an hour. (Add extra effort and he is running at an inhuman 40 PH As fast as an ostrich but not as fast as a cheetch at 70 mph.

House Rule #1B[edit]

Combat speeds Combat speed reflects not only speed but familiarity in combat. Also a combat round is about six seconds so a trained expert can run 72 meters in six seconds. Round down to a practical number to compensate for the time - lets say 64 yards/meter per round. (That still a lot compared to professonal footbal player.) That means an person with a score of 3 can move 32 yards and attack.

This gives us two ways to handle speed in combat

Combat Half move = 10 times your rating in yard/meters per round
That means a average person can move 10 meters/yards in combat and attack.
That means an athelete can move 30 meters/yards in combat and attack.
That means a super with 7 speed move 70 meters/yards in combat and attack.
This favors normals and low powered supers
Combat Half move = 1/2 times your MPH dash speed rating in yard/meters per round
That means a average person can move 1.5 meters/yards in combat and attack.
That means an athelete can move 10 meters/yards in combat and attack.
That means a super with 7 speed move 160 meters/yards in combat and attack.
This favors normals mid and high powered supers

House Rule #1C[edit]

Different modes.

If you have different ways to move IE Flying, running and leaping and running, you do not add them but pick the highest. However you can combine them, but are still limited to your fastest mode of travel.

IE- If you have Running at 7 and flight at 2 you can run over a short stretch of water, and leap over crevasses, but at rank seven speed.
