Left for Caves of Chaos first thing in the morning, arriving at 9:00 am. Encountered a large cat along the way. Entered the goblin caves.

  • Turn 1: went east from intersection. Travel south-east passage. Turn east into side passage. Side passage is dead end. Joe and Seb light torches. Gnaarl lights a lantern.
  • Turn 2: search for secret doors in the dead-end passage.
  • Turn 3: travel back to intersection near entrance, taking the south passage. It dead-ends.
  • Turn 4: search the passage and find nothing of interest.
  • Turn 5: travel west from the intersection.
  • Turn 6: travel south and then east to another dead-end.
  • Turn 7: travel into guard room where group fought mass of goblins and ogre. Joe and Seb light new torches.
  • Turn 8: travel west from the guard room. Take cursory view of dead-end passage to south.
  • Turn 9: travel west to intersection. Room to north can be seen from here, as well as passage to west.
  • Turn 10: travel north to large room and investigate it.
  • Turn 11: travel west in passage ending in a door. Unlock door and enter room.
  • Turn 12: search the room thoroughly, finding some coins and a valuable tapestry.
  • Turn 13: return to main room. Joe and Seb light new torches.
  • Turn 14: head north and then west from room.
  • Turn 15: head west. Encounter with 4 hobgoblins.
  • Turn 16: rest and recuperate.
  • Turn 17: move north and then west.
  • Turn 18: enter storage room.
  • Turn 19: take a short rest. Joe and Seb light new torches.
  • Turn 20: take passage west via secret door.
  • Turn 21: arrive at intersection and hear noises at the top of stairs. Fight and defeat hobgoblin king and his guards. Gnaarl killed and Seb reduced to near-death.
  • Turn 22: rest and search guard rooms.
  • Turn 23: explore king hobgoblin's room.
  • Turn 24: thorough search of room.
  • Turn 25: complete search of room. Joe and Edward light new torches.
  • Turn 26: set traps on stairs behind.
  • Turn 27: travel through guard room, into hallway, and into armory.
  • Turn 28: search armory.
  • Turn 29: search armory and catalog armory.
  • Turn 30: head east. Drop two hobgoblins with missile fire. Check guard room.
  • Turn 31: arrive at intersection to cave entrance. Joe and Edward light new torches.
  • Turn 32: break at intersection while thieves catch up.
  • Turn 33: head east.
  • Turn 34: head east from intersection.
  • Turn 35: continue down passage.
  • Turn 36: take south passage at intersection.
  • Turn 37: arrive in room with prisoners. Surprise hobgoblin guards. Joe and Edward light new torches.
  • Turn 38: search room, release prisoners. Heal Seb.
  • Turn 39: return to intersection close to entrance.
  • Turn 40: return to armory.
  • Turns 41-46: load up entirety of armory contents. Joe and Edward light new torches.
  • Turns 47-50: return to torture chamber. Kill gnoll. Leave chain mail and spear for orc, then release it. Joe and Edward light new torches.
  • Turns 51-53: return to closest entrance and leave cave.
