Setting Details

  • Avengers are still headquartered at 890 Fifth Avenue, Manhattan, New York. Their roster is the largest of any team of superhumans, but most of their members only respond when needed. Captain America leads the team, with Wasp, Giant-Man (Dr. Hank Pym), Thor, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Black Widow, She-Hulk, and Photon (formerly Captain Marvel) as active Avengers.
  • The Fantastic Four still operate out of the Baxter building at 42nd Street and Madison Avenue (Manhattan).
  • The Xavier School for Gifted Children is still at 1407 Graymalkin Lane, Salem Center (Westchester County, New York). Prof. X focuses on the younger mutants and advises the team's leader, Cyclops. Marvel Girl, Iceman, Beast, Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler, and Ariel (formerly Shadowcat) are all active X-Men, but also teach at the school.
  • Dr. Stephen Strange is still located at 177A Bleecker Street, "in the heart of New York City's Greenwich Village". While still Earth's Sorcerer Supreme, Strange has also taken on a new pupil: Franklin Richards.
  • Daredevil still operates (almost) exclusively in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan.
  • Spiderman still operates around the greater Manhattan area (downtown, primarily).
  • There are other 'superheroes' that operate around the country, such as the Punisher, the Hulk, the Ghost Rider, the Texas Rangers, and many more.
  • The Morlocks, a large 'clan' of mutant-outcasts, inhabit the massive underground tunnel-complex beneath greater NYC.
  • Atlantis is still in the Atlantic Ocean and ruled by King Namor (a.k.a. the Sub-Mariner).
  • The Inhumans still live on the 'Blue Area' of Earth's moon and are ruled by Black Bolt.
  • S.H.I.E.L.D., headquartered in Washington, D.C. and utilizing many secret bases worldwide is still led by Gen. Nick Fury.
  • The city-state of Latveria is still ruled by Dr. Victor Von Doom, arch-nemesis of the Fantastic Four.
  • The nation-state of Wakanda, now recognized as the capital of Africa, is still led by Prime Minister T'Challa (a.k.a. the Black Panther).
  • Most of the extraterrestrial races common to Marvel still exists, with the exception of the Skrulls, whose 'Throneworld' on Tarnax IV was consumed by Galactus. The Kree and Shi'ar empires remain the most dominant in the galaxy, if not the universe. Mr. Fantastic, Prof. X, and Photon are considered by many extraterrestrial races the most recognizable and trustworthy of Earth's heroes.
  • The Hellfire Club is still an ultra-exclusive society comprised of the elite families of the United States, Europe, and Great Britain. Secretly, this organization is led by a cabal of wealthy mutants bent on global domination. The leadership is named after chess pieces; Sebastian Shaw (Black King), Andreas Strucker (White King), Emma Frost (White Queen), and Andrea Strucker (Black Queen) head their roster.
  • Magneto, Mystique, and Mastermind still plague the world as the mutant 'revolutionary' group, Ouroboros
  • Power House, formerly the Masters of Evil, remain the Avengers arch-nemesis, with Baron Zemo, the Absorbing Man, Titania, Goliath, and the Fixer leading their roster of villains.
  • Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. the Kingpin of Crime) remains one of the most influential and dangerous men in the world. While repeatedly accused of many serious crimes, Fisk has never been indicted or even arrested.
  • Damage Control: when superhumans battle in the city, there's almost always massive property damage. That's where DC comes in; this organization is subsidized by NYC and the federal government to repair the damage done to areas devastated by 'super-fights'. Headquartered at Fifth Avenue and Broadway in the Flatiron building, DC is composed of an unusual cast of employees who follow the strict orders of their director, Anne Marie Hoag. The secret to their success is access to a higher level of technology which allows DC to complete large-scale repair jobs much faster than the competition.
  • S.H.O.T.: an elite unit within NYPD, the Super Human Operations Taskforce is a S.W.A.T.-like unit staffed with former SpecOps soldiers equipped with advanced technology enabling them to engage superhuman threats to the city. The team was formed in response to the outspoken critics of "costumed vigilantes" interfering in the activities of local law enforcement. A small unit at first, S.H.O.T. has grown to over fifty members, with their own command structure, which answers only to the Chief of Police. The unit has developed a menacing reputation for its "shoot-first" approach to law enforcement and it's rumored S.H.O.T. officers carry negative attitudes regarding superhumans (bad or good). Equipment-wise, S.H.O.T. has demonstrated EMP tech, Adamantium handcuffs/bullets, and Neutralizers which can nullify superhuman powers. The unit has its critics, many of whom claim S.H.O.T. is a branch of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the unit violates the rights of suspects.
  • Other nations such as Russia and China have their own 'superteams' similar to the Avengers, while some nations have either none or only a handful of recognized 'superheroes'.
