DjinnTheBinding:Workings:Transmutation

Workings of Transmutation allow a Djinn to create or modify the physical. Some of these Workings require raw materials in the form of a Djinn’s element. Creating raw materials with another Working is a sensible method; alternatively a Djinn could draw material directly from their Vessel. This causes one point of Resistant Lethal damage per size point created, returning to their anchor removes the Resistance of these wounds. Finally a Djinn’s Anchor contains a limitless supply of their element.

Reversing one’s own Transmutation is extremely easy, touching the object and an instant action is sufficient. Most other Workings can be reverted with Antimagic Workings.

One Dot[edit]

Honest Labour[edit]

The time taken for any extended mundane Crafts action is divided by Naphsha. This includes things outside the Djinn’s direct control such as waiting for metal to cool. This working cannot be used when creating any magical or otherwise supernatural item, it also dose not affect the quality of the finished item in any way.

Cost: One Rukh

Overcharging: One Rukh grants +2 on a single roll, this manifests as intuitive talent rather than direct magical effects.

This Working can be used as Teamwork but only with other Djinn. Work out the average speed division of all Djinn treating those who don’t know this working as zero. A Djinn can spend two Rukh to bring another Djinn up to speed (three if they don’t know the Working). At the storyteller’s discretion other supernatural creatures who have some way to speed themselves up or manipulate time may contribute but they cannot be the primary actor.

Refinements[edit]

Hard work (● to ●●●●●). Devide the time for an extended crafts roll is divided by Naphsha plus the dots in Hard Work. At the fifth dot Double Naphsha instead.

Two Dots[edit]

Alchemy (requires element)[edit]

The Djinn can transform any object into any periodic element, this lasts for one scene. Using this Working a Djinn may turn cardboard into a solid iron shield or an inconvenient wall into oxygen. Using this Working is an extended Dexterity + Science roll which is complete when the successes equal the object’s size. Every roll represents one turn (three seconds) of work and costs one Rukh point.

There is a penalty equal to the change in durability between the original object and the new element.

One size point of element is needed per size point to be transmuted.

This Working cannot change an object’s form, just what it is composed of although a Djinn could transform something into a soft material, work it by hand and then change it back.

Overcharging: One Rukh grants +2 on a single roll.

Teamworking for this Working is possible. All Djinn must know the Working and every additional Lineage involved adds a -2 penalty from conflicting elements.

Refinements[edit]

Chemistry (●●●). With this Refinement a Djinn can create complex molecules as well as simple elements. Every unique element in the final result adds an additional -1 penalty.

Creation (requires element)[edit]

With this working the Djinn can create objects with nothing but their element. This is an extended Dexterity + Crafts roll which is complete when the successes equal the object’s size. Every roll represents one minuet of work and costs two Rukh points. Objects created last one scene and cannot be intricate, one or two moving parts at the most.

Two size points of element is needed per size point to be transmuted.

Overcharging: One Rukh grants +2 on a single roll.

Teamworking for this Working is possible. All Djinn must know the Working and every additional Lineage involved adds a -2 penalty from conflicting elements.

Refinements[edit]

Intricacy (●●●). With this refinement the Djinn can create complicated moving objects. Roughly speaking if it could be made with 1950s technology the Djinn could create it. Djinn are continuing to refine this Working further but 1950s is the most recent refinement to make it into the wider Djinn community.
