Premise[edit]

Set across the 20th Century, Do not Go Gentle tracks the stories of American Superheroes in the post-war era. The initial story is set in 1950, five years after the end of WWII, but will take the protagonists right through to the modern day.

The world of this game is much the same as our real world, albeit with the existence of “exceptional individuals” aka “superheroes.” In the second world war the Nazis seemingly had better and more powerful “Ubermensche”, thanks to their eugenics programs and lower standards of ethics in human experimentation, but in the end this was not enough to save them. The war was won by the Allies in September 1945.

Thematic Elements[edit]

The stars of the story are Flawed Heroes. They’re exceptional, but they’re still human, and the more powerful they are, the more flawed they will be.

The story thematically is about the Dying of the Light. Good people grow old and pass away, and the world grows darker towards the century’s end. Everybody and everything will die one day – the story is about how people deal with that.

On the other hand, there is a mood of Optimism that is present throughout the arc. Even in the darkest of days, there is always hope, and there are always happy times to cling to and cherish.
