Drunken Alligator Wrestling

It was in the last year of the three that Alex had joined the tour with the Rangers. She and Duncan were still very friendly they kept it hidden as much they could but word travels. So far none seemed to have given a comment about it.

It was around the campfire at one evening that they were sitting together. Both noticed that there were less and less people around. They had set up next to a rural town so chances were some rangers would spend their time off with the locals.

It was that one of the younger rangers came back. Bandaged up that Duncan and Alex looked at each other with worry.

Duncan told Alex to get some fresh bandages as these were done poorly and the guy had been drinking so it was drenched in blood already.

When Alex returned she overheard the two talk about what was going on. It was an animated talk how they were invited to join in on their annual drunken alligator wrestling.

Duncan and Alex both looked at each other. Why would you wrestle alligators in your state was the next question.. The bleeding ranger replied that it was a fair fight. The alligators were drunk as well.

After they had made sure the ranger wasn't bleeding to death or risk infection. Duncan and Alex decided to go look for themselves...

When they arrived at the outside of the rural village they heard the yelling and cheering proper for a fantastic wrestling match. On approach they could see one of the locals indeed wrestling an awkward moving alligator.

One of the older rangers spotted them and came to tell the story.

Apparently the local brewery cleaned out their fermenting barrels and other containers in this slow running river once a year. Also their old stock was cheaper to buy which resulted in drunk animals and drunken villagers. And decades ago the tradition of drunken alligator wrestling was brought to life.

Duncan looked at it then with a sideward glance to Alex "And this proofs the diversity of shadows. Even comon sense has its way to slip out of infinity."
