NPCs

Ms Pattinson - Homeroom teacher. Unattached as far as anyone knows, attractive in a gamine sort of way, effusive and enthusiastic about her subjects and charges in a way that's rarely seen in school teaching nowadays.

Dayle - His father owns the lumber mill and is one of the biggest employers in town, his sense of entitlement has filtered through to his son. Pushed by his family tradition into football, he isn't well suited to the game, more lanky than powerful, and has a lingering resentment about the way the historically central football team has been eclipsed by swimming. Does nothing to discourage the salacious rumours floating around that he has gotten to know the teacher better than he should.

Britney - Her father as the head of the largest timber company in town is perhaps the only man more powerful in the local economy than Dayle's. She's a calculating social climber, and until very recently, head of the undisputed most powerful clique in the school.

Chloe - Poster child for teenage rebellion, her parents head Hillsong Evangelical, a church with a massive Sunday attendance and a strong and enthusiastic presence within the school Campus Bible Studies group. Chloe herself seems to know the kind of people (and things) that the average teenager shouldn't, and can source ... almost anything.

Amy - Beautiful, co-captain of the swim team, everybody either wants her, or wants to be her. While her grades aren't spectacular even with a mysterious recent improvement, she is otherwise the 'golden girl' of the class.

Jake - Handsome sports star and co-captain of the swim team. Oddly seemed to be spending a lot of time with Mandy late last year, which no-one could figure, but seems like they're barely talking to each other at the moment.

Robin - No-one can quite figure Robin, she's skinny but cute with a tomboy hairstyle. She claims to be working part-time jobs at night as the reason she's falling asleep in class, but her parents are loaded and no-one has actually run into her at 'work'.

Micah - He's Lakota in origin, the token Native in the class. He's large and it's mostly muscle, but moves slowly and deliberately, and it's rare to see him crack a smile or even a frown. Since the summer though, he's even more reticent than usual, drawing even single-word answers out of him is an effort, and Spencer caught a glimpse of a long knife in his locker when he was pretty sure Micah didn't know he was there.

Laura - New girl in class and Cassidy's cousin. Medium height, medium length medium brown hair in bangs. Keeps mostly to herself, personable but non-committal when cornered. Seems to do a lot of people-watching.

Mandy - Small, mousy, unprepossessing. Only really entered most people's orbit of notice when Jake started paying attention to her last year, but that seems to have ended, and badly.

Tom - Owns a motorcross bike and spends a lot of time either fixing it or rambling through the woods on it. Roguish grin and a small scar on his chin, charming when he wants to be, was able to talk Lily into attending the 'Flame but then ... well, everybody knows that story.

Rick - 'Thick' is a good word for Rick; lineman, not particularly bright, roughly as wide as he is tall although not ugly. A bully and enforcer, he relies purely on lending out his muscle to get along. Did a few favours for Britney last year and Nikki was the chit he called in.
