The following entries are all taken more or less directly from the Mass Effect series. Some modifications have been made to descriptions where they reference elements of that setting that do not apply to mine. They do not represent the full-range of submachine guns available in the game but cover a range from common military hardware up to elite or specialist models. They are also either human-centric or more generic weapons. Individual races may have more specific armaments used mainly by them.

Weapons are generally referred to by a code and the name mentioned below. The code is not supplied as it depends on what mods and specifications that particular weapon is keyed to but they tend to take alphanumeric form (e.g. M-8, L-12, B-22).

Each weapon is marked as either Common, Uncommon or Rare, indicating the level of resource or effort required to obtain one. Each also has a 0-5 rating (with 5 being the highest) in five categories (weight, fire rate, clip size, damage and accuracy). Note that the higher a weapon's rating in weight, the heavier it is. A 0 indicates a very poor performance in that category (most typically found in fire rate or accuracy).

Hornet[edit]

The M-25 Hornet is a long-range submachine gun. It is standard issue for Ulmer troops, who are trained to handle the recoil from the gun's three-round bursts. The Hornet was designed to conserve ammunition and provide cover-fire during prolonged conflicts.[1]

Rarity: Uncommon
Weight: 2
Capacity: 2
Fire Rate: 5
Damage: 1
Accuracy: 2

Hurricane[edit]

While some militaries pass on the Hurricane because of its lower accuracy, the Terran military feels the gun's rapid firing rate offers excellent suppressive fire. A disciplined marksman can use the fully automatic submachine gun to chew through targets with alarming speed. Terran officers were so pleased with field results that the Hurricane is now many squadrons' standard-issue SMG.[2]

Rarity: Uncommon
Weight: 2
Capacity: 4
Fire Rate: 5
Damage: 1
Accuracy: 1

Locust[edit]

The Locust is a compact submachine gun developed for the Terrans but now favored by gang enforcers and hitmen. Featuring a complex recoil-reducing mechanism and high-grade auto-targeting software, the Locust delivers longer-range, more accurate fire than others in its class.[3]

Rarity: Common
Weight: 2
Capacity: 3
Fire Rate: 3
Damage: 1
Accuracy: 3

Shuriken[edit]

As kinetic barriers have grown in popularity, so has the popularity of submachine guns. The Shuriken Machine Pistol fires six-round bursts with a high rate of fire.[4]

Rarity: Common
Weight: 1
Capacity: 4
Fire Rate: 4
Damage: 1
Accuracy: 0

Tempest[edit]

The Tempest is an expensive but deadly addition to anyone's personal arsenal. This fully automatic submachine gun is punishing up close, but becomes less accurate at long range.[5]

Rarity: Uncommon
Weight: 1
Capacity: 4
Fire Rate: 4
Damage: 1
Accuracy: 2
