Backstory[edit]
Growing up ever-so-slightly above literally dirt poor on Industrial 7 was a formative experience for Takao. Three months before his graduation from Industrial 7's version of a highschool (which is honestly a basic vocational school teaching assembly-line manufacturing skills, with all other education secondaty) both his parents died in..What was first called an industrial accident, and later revealed to be the work of Zeon saboteurs.
Thankfully, he'd managed to establish quite the network of friends, and between their help and the hard work of his siblings, the lights stayed on at home for the next few years, leaving him relatively free to enlist - one of the few paths to upward social mobility open to people of his station. Oddly enough, his career choice is entirely pragmatic - vengeance for the dead doesn't truly enter into it, though his hatred for Neo-Zeon holdouts is still strong.
...Mostly because they've poisoned side-ism as a political position for generations, and there's nothing so infuriating as a bad argument for a position you hold dear.
