Firefly Prime: Ship Advancement

Like characters, the ship earns experience that can be spent on advancements. Ships earn 1 xp per episode. Players are also permitted to donate character experience to ship advancement spends.

Ship advancement may require more fictional support than character advancement due to the labor and materials required to justify improvements.

Tier 0[edit]

Tier 0 changes (swapping features with no xp cost during or after the first episode) will be considered on a case by case basis and require consensus from the group, but as a general rule the ship is the ship.

Tier 1[edit]

  • Add a d6 Upgrade to the ship: 1 Experience Firefly Class can support a maximum of ten (10) Upgrades.
  • Add a d6 Signature Asset: 1 Experience

Tier 2[edit]

  • Step up a d6 Upgrade to d8: 2 Experience
  • Step up a d6 Signature Asset to d8: 2 Experience
  • Add a custom SFX to a Signature Asset: 2 Experience d6 Signature Assets can have a maximum of one (1) SFX, while d8 Signature Assets can have two (2).
  • Add a custom SFX to an Upgrade: 2 Experience d6 Upgrades can have a maximum of one (1) SFX, d8 can have a maximum of two (2) SFX, d10 can have a maximum of three (3) SFX, and d12 can have as many as four (4) SFX.

Custom SFX guidelines may be found in the Prime handbook on pages 61-63 (excepting limits). Do not use the guidelines for distinctions found on pages 191-213

Tier 3[edit]

  • Step up a d8 or higher Upgrade by one step: 3 Experience Upgrades cannot be stepped up beyond d12
  • Step up one (1) Ship Attribute [Hull|Engine|Systems] by one die type: 3 Experience Only one (1) Attribute may be ranked at d12 No Attribute may be stepped up beyond d12
