Spheres[edit]

The most defining characteristic of a deity is their spheres of influence, also called domains. While the domains listed in the D&D and Pathfinder books are all acceptable, players shouldn't feel limited to those choices. Spheres are meant to be wide ranging. The only things which are too general are the four categories of acts: Creation, Destruction, Transformation and Control.

Each deity has one primary sphere and up to two secondary spheres. It might be possible to gain additional secondary spheres through effort and role play.

Affinities[edit]

In addition to their spheres, each deity must chose one category of effect (Creation, Destruction, Transformation, Control) that they find easier and one they find harder. These can't be changed later.

Other Details[edit]

At this point, the deities may want to take a minute and describe some of the basics of their divine realm. While material creatures are unlikely to ever witness these places directly, they can glimpse them during dreams, near-death experiences, etc. This will in turn color their religious beliefs. This includes what shape souls take when they come here, and what other outsiders exist.

They should also pick a name. While they will inevitably gather many names and symbols, they will need to give their creations something to call them by.

Example[edit]

Oasi, played by Alice, is a deity of Space, Fire and Ice. She favors Transformation and has difficulties with Control. Her divine realm is an endless desert, burning by day and frozen at night. Souls here take the form of small desert creatures.

Ibura, played by Bob, is a deity of Storm, Earth and Water. He favors Destruction and has difficulties with Transformation. His divine realm is a series of storm-battered islands. Souls here take the form of small trees.
