"The City of the Future"
Resting on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound, Greenbank, Washington exploded in population and development in the run up to the Second World War. After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Greenbank was chosen as the site for the United States government to develop, test and deploy cutting edge (and more than curring edge) technology and research to protect the west coast of the USA from attack and invasion. It was a gold rush for every scientist, entrepreneur, genius and huckster that could make a case for themselves as the officer in change wasn't too picky and throwing everything against the wall. With them came workers, families and other followers. The population exploded, and Greenbank quickly expanding taking over the other municipalities on the island (now each burough of Greenbank).
A center of wartime spying and industrial sabotage, Greenbank got its first crop of masked villains during the war and its first superheroes and hero team shortly thereafter.
The boom continued post-war, the city continued to grow into one of the major cities of the Pacific Northwest.
Despite its success putting the city in the eyes of crime lords, mad scientists, alien invaders and dark wizards the city since it's ascension into the public in in the 40s, Greenbank continues to modernize with the occassinal partnership with the technopathic hero Singularity.
