The Five Great Generals are the joint chiefs of staff in command of the Gunstar Defense Line. Autochthon's outer hull is divided into five portions, each named after one of the old elements of Gaia and each commanded by one of the greatest military minds the Gunstar has ever known. The Five Generals act as the executive branch to the Deliberative's legislative branch; they answer to the Deliberative as a whole, but each general wields so much personal power that they are effectively the five most powerful people in Autochthonia.

Callsigns are given for historical purposes; the Generals rarely pilot voidfighters these days, and calling them by their old callsigns may lead to career suicide.

Fire: General Merela Cain[edit]

Merela Cain

Caste: Dawn

Callsign: "Klave"

First among equals within the Five Generals, General Cain is the total package; a brilliant strategist, a cunning politician, and a formidable warrior at personal arms. She is loved by few, hated by many, but respected by almost everyone. Among the generals it is believed that Narikon can outfight her, Haddon can out-schmooze her, and Tamuz can out-plan her, but none of them can match her at all three at once. Considered to be cold and remote, Cain's personal life is nevertheless the subject of much attention, in both her affair with one of the chief gods of Autochthonia and her daughter, Kaneko Cain.

Earth: General Saul Narikon[edit]

General Narikon

Caste: Dawn

Callsign: "Sunny"

The oldest surviving Dawn caste, Saul Narikon is one of the only men who remembers the first Primordial War. Taciturn and laconic (re: "drunk and cranky"), Narikon would by all rights be the chief of the five generals based on seniority, were it not for his habit of angering the Deliberative every time he appears in front of them. Many feel that Narikon's career has stalled; the old general can rise no higher, but neither can he retire. Many people expect him to go out in a sudden blaze of glory one of these years.

Wood: General Mathias Haddon[edit]

General Haddon

Caste: Dawn

Callsign: "Dicks"

He of the "hot and cold running interns", General Haddon is often accused of being more of a political creature than a military one, preferring the comforts of Hadal to his military quarters. And while it is true that his elaborately constructed personal quarters features a bed that can seat seven people and a perpetual champagne waterfall, and while it is also true that he surrounds himself with beautiful (if competent) women at every opportunity, he will be the first to note that such luxuries haven't cut into his pole's combat stats to any extent. He is still hard as nails, and if he likes a little debauchery, what does it hurt?

Water: General Tammuz[edit]

General Tamuz

Caste: No Moon

Callsign: "Goatboy"

The youngest of the five generals and the only Lunar, Tammuz is reckoned to be something of a wunderkind. Less than two hundred, he already possesses one of the sharpest strategic minds anyone can remember seeing. Tammuz has a reputation for playing things close to the vest; he prefers to lead from the back, cloaking his plans in secrecy and telling each component of his grand strategy onoly what they need to know.

Air: General Total War Hellstern[edit]

General Hellstern

Caste: Dawn

Callsign: "Boomboom"

Yes, War really is her middle name. General Hellstern is the most enthusiastic of the Five Generals; she never attacks with anything less than total commitment and overwhelming force. Hellstern loathes the primordials and their akuma traitors with the burning passion of ten thousand suns, and what she lacks in tactical or political acumen, she makes up for in incandescent willpower. Hellstern is the second youngest of the five generals; she took over command after an attack by the Tyrant Sun left the old general dead and the aerie that had been Air headquarters devastated. She rallied the splintered wings and coordinated attacks from the front lines, launching herself at the Incarnae again and again as whole wings of her own troops died around her. Casualties from her aeire were almost one hundred percent, but she managed to drive off Ignis Divine.
