Faith[edit]

Hero Name: Faith

Real Name: Faith Jackson

Abilities: Energy absorption and linked physical enhancement. Faith is capable of absorbing all sorts of energy - radiation from the sun, the kinetic energy from her footfalls, the fire in a burning building. Anything and everything gets sucked up by the thin aura that surrounds her. Beyond simply protecting her, the energy that her aura absorbs directly boosts her physical capabilities!

With enough energy, she can run at super speeds, leap tall buildings, and punch her way through almost anything...but the wind-up is slow. For example, sprinting will charge her up, but she'll need a dozen minutes or more to start going super. And without that wind-up, Faith's barely super at all and eminently vulnerable to things that don't just try to punch her out.

Moment of Truth[edit]

The mask is a lie, and some piece of you has always known that. Doesn't matter if others can see it. You're the one that can do the impossible. Mask off. Costume on. And you're going to same the damn day. Of course, you better hope nobody nasty is watching...

Team Moves[edit]

When you share a triumphant celebration with someone, ask them if they see you as a person wearing the mask, or the person underneath. If the former, mark potential and cler a condition. If the latter, take influence over them if you reveal yourself.

When you share a vulnerability or weakness with someone, tell them a secret about who you really are. Give them Influence, and shift your Mundane up and your Mask's Label down.


Moves[edit]

The Mask: you wear a mask and hide your real identity. While you're wearing the mask, you embody the Danger label. Once per session, you can affirm either your heroic or secret identity to switch your Mundane with your Mask's Label.

When you reveal your secret identity to someone who didn't know it already, mark Potential.


Game Face: when you commit yourself to save someone or defeat a terrible enemy, mark a Condition and take +1 Ongoing to all rolls in direct pursuit of that goal. At the end of any scene in which you don't make progress toward that goal, mark a Condition. When you fulfil your goal, mark Potential.


I am what you see: when you spend time talking to someone about your identity, you can ask them which Label they want to impose on you; their player will tell you honestly. If you accept what they tell you, take +1 Forward, and either mark Potential or clear a Condition.


Backstory[edit]

When did you first put on the mask? Why? I first put on my mask in my bathroom. My boyfriend was trying to convince me to take up being a hero - you know, helping people. Saving them. Like I saved him. He worked really hard on the mask, so I wore it to humour him. Then I started to wear it for real. Why do you keep a secret identity? To protect my fiancé. To protect my classmates. And...to protect myself because of the way my powers work. My mask is an armour that helps me keep the things I care about safe. Because I don't know if I could shield them on my own.

Who, outside of the team, knows about your dual identity? Jacob Jackson, my fiancé. He was the one who convinced me to take up being a hero in the first place. He got me set up with my costume and everything! I hope he made it all by himself...

Who thinks the worst of your masked identity?


Why do you care about the team? Panacea convinced me that we couldn't do this hero thing alone. I don't think that's why she set the team up, but I wasn't going to leave her out in the cold. But you know? They're good people. Probably better suited to this than I am. But they need someone to keep their head in the game. And maybe that someone is me...


When Our Team First Came Together[edit]

We saved Carol Nicolas, one of AEGIS' directors from a sticky situation involving a falling helicopter, a mysterious malfunction, and the ever-present threat of gravity. But as luck would have it, we were right on scene!

  • The Track team: I run. I'm the hope of the team. Which isn't entirely fair given I get faster the more I run, but...it helps me keep my head straight, you know?
  • Significant Other: Jacob Jackson, my fiancé. Few years older. Handsome, a dreamer who actually chases his dreams. Does freelance security penetration, mobile game dev as a hobby, keeps forcing me to give him more content for my Youtube channel...
