Background: Joshua is a Tammuz Promethean, a Golem, made to be the husband to a Polish Jewish heiress by a Left-Handed Kabbalist and Alchemist named Yehudah Schaalman. He was to be a helpmate, little better than an overgrown protector to give her legitimacy and acceptance in a distant country. However, soon after Joshua woke from the earth on the journey to America, his mistress died of appendicitis. He escaped Ellis Island and made it to the Upper East Side, where he was found by the Rabbi Avram Meyer. The Rabbi knew that a Golem had the potential to be a terrifying creature, unattended, but wasn't willing to discount an as-yet innocent soul. Joshua was given his name by the Rabbi, and posed as a live-in student of the old master, which suited Joshua just fine, as he took well to books, though he was initially clumsy with language. He finds beauty in words and in knowledge, and in the long journey to discover them, he mastered his mind.

Now, Joshua seeks to master his body. Rather regrettably, it turned out he was just as good at violence as he was with words, perhaps a little too good, and his strong moral compass and his admiration of courage have led him to intervene in muggings and riots before. With his alchemy, he can throw massive loads with his bare hands and shake the earth, and that makes him a major asset. Joshua stands up for the little guy, and he punches bullies and brutes in the face when impassioned appeals to intellect and emotion fail. That or he throws a car at them. He also has a vulnerability that Uncle Sam can exploit mercilessly; he generally does what he's told.

Description: Joshua has dark, wavy hair that always seems a little greasy and matted, and deep dark eyes. He's wide, and not particularly muscular, but he is strong for his size, and alchemy boosts that even further. He dresses mostly like a workman, but he has a fondness for fine clothes, even if he doesn't wear them. Perhaps when this is all done, he'll learn to be a tailor, there is beauty in that delicate work. His Inscription is on his back, a mess of alchemical equations in Hebrew and stranger alphabets that flickers with flame when he channels Pyros through it. When his disfigurements show, he is caked in clay, and his eyes become polished black stones. Fire radiates around his head like a halo, a swirl of letters he can never read. When Joshua is Tormented he becomes procedural. He follows instructions to the letter, and often doesn't stop unless someone tells him to.
