Emma Beckett always had everything she ever wanted, and it was never enough. As the daughter of one of the heads of Direct Action, she was expected to take an interest in the affairs of the wealthy and powerful, and perhaps in a few decades obtain a powerful position herself. She found the very thought of the process exhausting, and didn't care to enter the social circles of her gossiping, back-biting peers. She spend most of her time using XP to catch a glimpse of the world outside of her gilded cage, and then the Fall happened.

Not that she felt the effects of it personally, mind you, but it resulted in a perspective change for Emma: If humanity could be wiped from the universe that easily, then what was she doing idling her days away without experiencing life firsthand? She decided to live the life she always wanted, and no expense would be spared. Two years, a custom morph design, and an incredible amount of time-dilated Simulspace training later, and Emma egocasted to her new body in the outer system. Lila Black was born.

The first couple of years it was almost like a vacation. If she was bored with Inner System politics she would take a couple of weeks and go play among the anarchists. She would take on a job, from bodyguard to ego hunter to merc, and when the job was done she was paid in credits or Rep and it was back to cold storage for Lila Black. But as time went on she found that her life as Emma Beckett was more and more undesirable, and soon she found herself spending more time as Lila. It's been three years since she's bothered to egocast back to her old body, preferring to visit her old life online only.

She prefers to travel by Scum Barge, as out of all the various factions she has encountered she prefers their company the most. Her services are generally in high demand, and as a result she has continued to augment her morph with the cybernetic implants favored the Scum. She was invited to join Firewall after she took a job to recover the cortical stack of a an anarchist's sister that had been lifted in a Night Cartel kidnapping scheme. She succeeded, and the man behind the kidnapping, Enzo Agosti, took it personally. It probably had something to do with killing him and shredding his cortical stack. The Anarchist was a Sentinel on a mission, and sponsored her in gratitude. She agreed without hesitation, but as of yet hasn't had an opportunity to go on a mission. Her Firewall Codename is Kali, given to her by a Proxy that thought the small cybernetic eye mounted on her forehead resembled an Indian tilaka.
