(*)These skills do not incur the -5 penalty for ‘No Skill Level’

Some skills such as 'language' and 'pilot' for example can be taken multiple times for different types.

A number in parenthesis such as (2) is the multiple in skill points it requires to increase that skill. Some skills such as Martial Arts have multiples depending on the type taken.

Background[edit]

Steve Kelley

Steve grew up around the Townsville area of Queensland in Australia. His mum and dad ran a cane farm and he grew up in a large family in the backblocks, working and playing in the farmlands and bush. His older brothers and sisters ran the farm and actually did the farming, but Steve worked like a dog nonetheless, doing a lot of the mechanical work and physical labour his dad couldn’t as he got older.

As the youngest, he spent the most time with his aging parents and took over a lot of their home medical regimen. He went to a private local school and did well enough, eventually, to get into medical training and became an ambulance officer. Soon enough, he was working for the local S.E.S., supporting his family farm until dad died and his mum moved into a C.W.A. retirement village.

Steve was responsible only for himself for the first time in his life.

He saw a job offer for a medical response team for Celebrity Survival, joined the team on their New Guinea series and followed on to the All Star series shot in Guam. He got hooked on the lifestyle, palled around with the other crew experts and picked up a background in the reality TV industry. He also met the love of his life.

Natalie was from Detroit, a dietary therapist (and fitness fanatic)... they clicked within hours of meeting each other on the Guam set, married in six months, worked the show for another year then moved to her hometown when the ratings folded. Steve and Nat both got work at DMC. Neither of them could really let go of their old lifestyle, though. They had just shot and piloted their own local husband and wife team webshow, when Detroit was hit by the Brown Sweats.

Steve watched Natalie die before his eyes. During the desperate siege of the hospital grounds, she was cut down by a stray bullet in a mobs assault on the security forces. He made it home alive, but there was no one to go to…

He has been on a kind of autopilot since surviving the siege, getting by on trading his medical skills for food.

Normally, he gets along well with people because he manages to somehow get that combination of frankness and friendliness just right. Normally he’s pretty easy going and soft spoken, but these days there’s a lot more black and white about his moral decisions and actions. He supports the local police militia largely because they’re the only people he knows.

Steve is six foot even, 180lbs with sandy hair, blue eyes and tanned skin. He has a lot of wrinkles for his age and big laugh lines. Steve has a faint American accent these days, though the strine in his speech is still obvious.
