Kolat Agent [Ninja][edit]

Requirements:

Rings/Traits: Intelligence 3,

Skills: Investigation 2, Deceit 2, Courtier (Manipulation) 2 Calligraphy 2

Other: Must be chosen by the Kolat Masters to undergo this training

Techniques:

Rank 1: Secret Brotherhood

Kolat agents may do an Intelligence/Deceit roll TN 15 to leave a signal that only other Kolat Agents could understand (a symbol painted on a wall, a certain tree burning at a certain time, etc). This signal can be used to transmit a 7 word message. Agents are also taught how to activate Sleepers. By performing a simple action an uttering the control word they may activate any sleeper agent. This requires a Willpower/School Rank roll opposed by the target’s Willpower. If the target fails the roll he is under the control of the Agent for a number of hours equal to the Agent’s School rank although performing self-destructive tasks require a new roll opposed roll. When the control ends the Sleeper has no memory of his actions. Agents may control a number of Sleeper equal to their school rank at any one time. Sleepers aware that they have been programmed receive two free raises on their opposed rolls to resist the Agent.

Rank 2: Tell no Secrets

Any attempts to coerce the Agent into betraying the Kolat (Interrogation, Torture, Spells, Deceit, etc) require two raises to be successful. Choose one of the following abilities:

  • Program Sleeper: You must spend at least two days per Insight Rank of the target in seclusion with the target. You must spend twelve hours per day in the target’s presence, indoctrinating him in Kolat philosophy and directives and the target may have no other human contact during this time. At the end of this time, you make an opposed Willpower roll with the target by spending Void Points equal to the target's Insight Rank. If you succeed, the programming is successful. If unsuccessful, you may immediately try again, beginning another period of brainwashing and programming for a number of days equal to two per Insight Rank of the target. The Kolat agent may use torture threat or coercion to encourage the target to fail the willpower roll. After indoctrinated the process is permanent and only years of rehabilitation (or the Vigilant technique) may reverse the process The programming allows the Sleeper to be controlled by any trained Kolat agent. On programming the programmer may choose to make a Sleeper that may only be controlled by himself (Dream Sect only)
  • Gain a free Raise on all Acting and Deceit rolls
  • Gain a free raise on all Social Skill Rolls (Crysanthemun Kolat only)
  • Choose any two skills. Add your school rank to rolls using these skills
  • Gain the Precise Memory advantage (Cloud Sect Kolat only)
  • Maho and Shadow effects targeting the agent have their TN increased by 5 (Jade Sect only)
  • Gain a free raise on all Social Skill Rolls with non-Rokugani (Roc Sect only)
  • By making an Intelligence/Underworld roll TN 15 the Coin Kolat may find a henchman. This Henchman has a single Weapon or Low skill at rank 3, all rings at rank 2 and knows no techniques. Only one such henchman may be kept at a time (Coin Kolat only)
  • May add Awareness to all Courtier (Gossip) rolls (Silken Sect only)
  • Gain a free raise to all Perception rolls to avoid ambush per every other Steel Sect Kolat within 30 feet (Steel Sect only)
  • Gain a free raise when attacking an unaware opponent
  • Gain free raises equal to Insight Rank on all opposed social skill rolls against other Kolat (Tiger Sect only)
  • Gain a free Rank in the Perceived Honor Advantage (Perceived Honor can never be raised over 3 ranks)

Rank 3: The Path of Man

Choose any two of the following abilities:

  • Gain a free Raise on all Acting and Deceit rolls (May be chosen multiple times)
  • Gain a free Rank in the Perceived Honor Advantage(May be chosen multiple times, but can never be raised over 3 ranks)
  • Gain a free raise when attacking an unaware opponent (May be Chosen Multiple times)
  • Choose any two skills. Add your school rank to rolls using the chosen skills (May be chosen multiple times)
  • Gain free raises equal to Insight Rank on Anatomy (Torture) rolls to Program Sleepers (Dream Sect only)
