Legacy Ashes of Houston:Control
The eggheads over at at Houston USSA (US Space Administration) Mission Control Center saw the writing on the wall. They knew about the war and the devastation it would bring. But fear and desperation make even smart people do strange things. They began their project in secret, slowly at first. As a distraction. A joke, maybe? Things wouldn't get bad enough that we'd actually do it, right? Right...?
But then the bombs fell and the survivors became even more afraid and more desperate. They could not survive the wasteland. But their knowledge might still bring hope for mankind. And so, they willingly fell into an eternal sleep and had their brains extracted and preserved. Under the guidance of the infallible* eOS artificial intelligence, the Mission Control Center would build android bodies and program them with personalities taken from randomized selections of the progenitor scientists.
From the ruins of USSA Mission Control (simply named 'Control' these days), a glorious mechanized dawn for mankind rises. What could possibly go wrong?
