HOUSE AKON[edit]

MOVES[edit]

CULTURE[edit]

When my family starts cultivating a new product, erase Surplus: (Progress / Land / Barter Goods). After a few months, get the surplus back, plus:

  • Progress: get Surplus: Medicine, and 1 use of medicine that can heal any harm box instantly.
  • Land: get Surplus: Crops and slow but steady population growth. At the end of the age, if you still have the surplus, gain Surplus: Recruits.
  • Barter Goods: get Surplus: Livestock, and gain a few exemplary examples of the bred animals. If they're used as mounts, add 1 free tag to them.

At the start of each age, you can skip the months of cultivation and go straight to harvest (including at game start!).

DOMESTICATION[edit]

When an abnormal life form is brought back to your Family's estate and reshaped to suit your needs, choose one:

  • Archive one of its traits. From now on you can add that trait to the crops and animals created by
  • Culture and have the drugs you create temporarily grant it to their uses.
  • Corral a small breeding population of the organism.
  • Find a way for me to resist its abilities or avoid its dangers.

ALLIANCE MOVE[edit]

When you freely give someone the perfect resource to solve a problem, gain 1-Treaty on them.

TREATIES[edit]

HOUSE AKON and its People[edit]

"Arrogance and folly oft go hand in hand. And the past was nothing if not steeped in arrogance. We must be better."

INHERITANCE[edit]

Characters from House Akon get +1 Sway or Lore. Quick Characters can pick an Inheritance move:

  • Hardy: the first time each day you take Harm, reduce it by 1.
  • Green Fingers: you know the medical and culinary uses of any plant or animal you encounter.
  • Animal Companion: you have a reliable mount. Its a vehicle with mount, land and one of (air / water / swift / mighty).
  • Master Chef: the food you prepare and augment tastes exceptionally good, and will heal minor ailments and give people energy.
  • Surgeon: when a few hours of dedicated treatment, you can clear all of someone's Harm boxes. With all of your effort, you can delay the onset of someone's Dead box.

HISTORY[edit]

Human needs. Human greed. Human weakness. Faults inherited from our million year history. Byproducts of the best nature could scrounge and muster. And likewise the failures of our many riotous cultures stemming from those same, flawed headwaters. Neither of these could be fixed before Armageddon claimed the planet. But perhaps afterwards...

Perhaps after the end, there would be space.

Space for something new and intentional. Better suited and better natured. A second chance for a second humanity! Intentionally gifted with the best we could possibly give them.

"And that's why we're going to do a eugenics and lock a bunch of people up with the most exaggerated heroic media we have!" - Vault-Tec (probably)

TRADITIONS[edit]

  • Populace: House Akon is characterised most of all by its carefully managed bloodlines; it has to be! The precise balance of a person's gene-load is of paramount importance. That, most of all, defines the upper bounds of their inherent capabilities. Marriages may be political and love may be a beautiful art - but progeny are, by necessity, a science.
  • Style: modern practicality married to knightly flare, those of House Akon make a statement wherever they are. The family's extensive, hyper-optimised agriculture has lead to no shortage of base material for clothing or dyes. And personalised heraldry features prominently in many outfits.
  • Governance: having a feudal hierarchy of serfs and landowners is one of the stranger quirks of House Akon, and is - more than anything else - entirely accidental. Various specialised bloodlines, and the incredibly specific slant of their archived media resurrected one of humanity's oldest forms of organisation. Though fraternal orders and clans by association are vastly more important than your family heritage within the house.

THE GENE-LINES OF HOUSE AKON[edit]

  • Bovid: the most common gene-line in House Akon, optimised for robust health and caloric efficiency. They are almost without exception the foundational workforce of the house. Though their sheer numbers does afford them the chance of birthing a heroic exception - which are then found uncommonly in more prestigious positions.
  • Canid: while all gene-lines strive for perfection, the canid line is the most forgiving; both for achieving the desired results, and in producing capable heirs even in less successful circumstances. They can be found in bulk among the knightly orders and expeditionary troops owing to their excellent survival traits and powerful physiques.
  • Corvid: a rare and tempestuous gene-line, the early hope that it would be easy to incorporate superior avian brain structures into the human genome was quickly dashed. Nevertheless, it is possible and the resulting academics, advisors and scientists have made it worth trying even if dismal failure is by far the most common result.
  • Felid: the other knightly gene-line, felids are slightly less common than their canid kin owning to their lower tolerance of defects. Regardless, the cat-form's success in nature proves their worth, and there are more than enough worthy deeds attached to this line to merit its continued use.
  • Ursine: EXPUNGED. INSTABILITY IN BOTH BLOOD AND SPIRIT HAVE LEAD TO A LINEAGE RIFE WITH DEPRAVITY AND BARBARISM. GLORY TO THE KNIGHTS WHO FACE SUCH CRIMINALS WITH VALOUR.

THE ORDERS AND CLANS OF HOUSE AKON[edit]

  • The Order of the North Star: Pugnus alte evectus, viam dirigens - a fist raided high guides the way! The most prestigious of the expeditionary troops and a knightly order in its own right, the Order of the North Star boasts of its many deeds, and likewise laments its many fallen in advancing House Akon's noble mission. It is a common posting both for the good and valorous, and also those hungry for glory and merits. Knights of the order are given broad authority, and their own expeditionary squadrons, to support the North Star's cause across the Wasteland.
  • The Order of the Silvered Fangs: Ferro dentes, hominis sunt - steel are the fangs of man. Trackers, hunters, and killers - knights of the darker wilds. While knights of any stripe are apt to find a questing beast worthy prey, the Order of the Silvered Fang assume the mantle of monster hunter as their core mission. Many and terrible are the things that stalk the wasteland, and the knights make a life stalking them are more terrible still. They are a misfit order, suffering high attrition and a poor reputation among the other orders...but to the people they save a knight is still a knight, and a beast slain hunts no more.
