The premier supergroup of New York City, the Liberty League was originally founded in the 70s. During the early 90s, the team clashed several times with the villain group known as the Blood Oath; the rivalry ended in the middle of the decade when the League defeated the Blood Oath once and for all in the middle of a plot by the Oath to abduct and sell a dozen of mutant minors. The then-current members of the League were awarded The Bastion Award that year.

Current membership includes:

• Doctor Hex, a powerful arcanist and one of the last active original members. Current leader of the team.

• Banner, a patriotic-themed super-strong mutant (and son of the original Banner, the previous leader of the League).

• Komodo, a reptilian mutant.

• Melee Master, the "sidekick" of Doctor Hex, who has given him magical weaponry of his own creation.

• Lady Volt, an electricity controller (origin of powers unknown).

• Vigilance, a mutant with super-strength, flight and fire blasts. Arguably the city's premier super-heroine.

• Improv, the former sidekick to the original Banner. A brilliant gadgeteer.

In recent years, the Liberty League's main foes have been The New Predators. Their last battle ended in a surprise victory of the villains, as Brick, thanks to a mysterious power-up, hospitalized several League members...
