Role-Playing[edit]

Complications

    • Addiction: Cocaine and other partydrugs.
    • Motivation: Acceptance: Lily desperately wants to fit in somewhere and be accepted.
    • Secret: In order to finance her addiction and her high-rolling lifestyle Lily has turned to thievery.

Relationships

Alex: Lily maintains an air of smug superiority towards her, deriding her superhero-antics, her partying and her attention seeking in the media.

The truth however is that she's deeply jealous and in awe of the ease and enthousiasm with which Alex seems to embrace life and fit in. Lily has until now missed Alex's internal struggle, and her recent bout of partying and excess is in part her trying to emulate Alex.

Hillary: Having also come into the Schandalere family at a later age, Lily could actually for once relate to how overwhelming this must be for Hillary, and tried her best to make the girl feel welcome. She definitely tried not to be abrasive and confrontational with her and be a friend. Hillary's efforts and successes at fitting in and picking up the Schandalere mantle have hit close to home however and highlighted her own failure to do so. While this has strained their relationship, Hillary remained one of the few people Lily didn't try to push away (too hard) and pick (much) fights with.

Jonathan: Just like his sister, Jonathan has embraced the superhero lifestyle and another of those examplary Schandalere scions, with lots of friends and a rich social life. Unlike his sister however, smug superiority doesn't really work that well with him. Jonathan is about as smart as she is, and a much more disciplined student. Lily feels very competitive towards Jonathan and easily becomes argumentative around him. Arguments and discussions she 'loses' more often than not.

Still, she can't help respecting him. Especially now with his recent troubles with his mother and withdrawal from the family. However, going to the same university and in view of her recent antics which he might actually gotten wind of, she is afraid his opinion of her, which she fears is already pretty low, is now beyond saving.

Rocksteady: When she came to the family, she latched on the friendly golem. However, that wasn't to last for long. Lily had too many issues, and too many rationalisations defending them. Poor Rocksteady was no match for those arguments and his simple kindness was soon answered with caustic wit. Lily realises that she hurt and belittled him countless times over the years and that the golem in no way deserved any of it. She just had to lash out at someone and the golem was a very easy target.

She has avoided Rocksteady the last couple of years, out of shame and guilt. She knows, especially after recent events, she has to apologize and somehow make this right. She's just afraid that it is far too late for that.

Sean: Sean is currently Lily's anchor. After her overdose Sean was among the first responders. He fixed everything and took her in to get back on her feet. Lily considers Sean as the father she wished he had. Sean is also struggling with his losses. Perhaps they can help each other.

Alice Phaser: Lily fell hard for Alice in what can only be described as a whirlwind romance. She truly believed she would do anything for her. Still, even though Alice threatened to break up with her over her drug use, she didn't stop. She stormed out and OD'd that night. Also, she has trouble accepting herself as part of the LBGT community, even though this would not pose a problem for her family.

Background and History

Lily is the illegitimate by-blow of Rowan Schandalere. She was unaware of this however, raised by her loving mother. Until the faithful day a drunk driver lost control of his car and slammed into Lily and her mother while crossing the street. Or more precisely, her mom. The car just went right through her, as if she wasn't there, unglued from reality.

Lily's mother lived long enough to contact her father, who considered it his duty and responsibility to take in the grieving girl. This would before long cost him his marriage to the love of his live, and furthermore, duty and responsibilty are not love.

Lily blames herself for not being to save her mother, for ruining her fathers life, for not being able to love him and for being alive. If she wasn't, she wouldn't be this burden, this problem, fucking up everything and everyone around her. She wasn't wanted here, and sure as hell did not fit in this family of superheroes. And besides this pain, there's also a lot of anger building up, at life in general, herself, her dad and the family.

Of course, it is precisely because she keeps hanging on to this grief and anger that she is unable to build a real relationship with her father and keeps to the fringes of the family. Lily prefers the company of books and can be quite tiresome and difficult. She is opinionated and confrontational, quick to take the opposite view, just for the sake of argument and can easily come off as dismissive and condescending. It is after all easier for her to interact with opinions and ideas than people themselves.

Her father, a prodigy with all weapons archaic, did train her hard to take up her role in the family "business". In this way, he hoped to finally connect with his daughter. But while she suffered through the training itself, to his disappointment, she has until recently refused to do anything with her powers. After all: "The Schandalere's are just a white, very privileged family fighting to maintain an injust status quo and their own privilege, and she will have nothing to do with that!", willfully ignoring such historical precedents as Hillary Schandalere's interracial marriage, or Allison Schandalere being openly lesbian.

Especially ignoring Allison Schandalere, who the éminences grises such as Elise and her husband keep on insisting she bears such a striking resemblance to. This comparison is especially uncomfortable as she's still coming to grips about her preference for girls. She has discovered there is a marked difference between being accepting and tolerant of LBGT's, and finding herself part of that community. She has discovered there is a marked difference between being accepting and tolerant of LBGT's, and finding herself part of that community. Yet another thing that would set her apart and she feels would prevent her from fitting in.

She is now in university, studying forensic sciences, and her self-destructive behavior has come to a head. Lily has recently gone completely of the rails, clubbing hard, doing way too much drugs, surrounded herself with an entourage of faux friends, who make her feel wanted and likes she fits in somewhere, but are only around because of the money she throws around. Money she doesn't actually have. Money she stole. It's just so easy for someone who can phase out and walk through walls. She has certainly stolen enough by now to be noticed by both the police and certain criminal circles. Still, something good came out of this period of her life. She fell in love with a girl called Alice Phaser, and the feeling is mutual.

This has recently taken a turn for the worse. Ten days before Memorial Day 2016 she OD'd in the VIP room of Club Majestic. She was dumped in an alley not far from the club. Luckily for the young Schandalere, among the first responders was Sean Schandalere who pocketed her ID, registered her as Jane Doe, and after leaving the hospital let her recover at his place.

Ironically enough, because of the last few months, she has learned to love using her powers and the rush of adrenaline in dangerous situations. And even more importantly, that she needs and wants real, actual friends.
