CAPTAIN AMERICA[edit]
CIVILIAN IDENTITY: Steve "Star Bearer" Rogers
- Height / Weight: 6' / 180 lbs.
- Super-Powers & Abilities: Increased Strength and Endurance, also somewhat heightened senses.
CONCEPT: A man cut off from his culture, from his people, from his way of life. Now, he tries to bring a bit of order to this brave new world.

Victorian to Modern Marvel Differences[edit]
- CAPTAIN America is a medically-enhanced Super Soldier who fought the Nazi's, the Communists, and a whole host of Marvel Baddies. MARSHALL America is just a traveling law-man. Trying to bring law and order to the chaotic American West.
The Marshall's background is quite a departure from the Captain's (see below) but it was all done to try and replicate the 'Man-Out-of-Time' feeling without resorting to time travel or suspended animation.
The greatest outward change... the Marshall doesn't bear a shield, instead in this lawless age, he carries a sword.

Re: Psychological work-up, Subject: Marshall Steven (Star Bearer) Rogers.
Background:
Subject's father was a "Naturalist" from eastern Pennsylvania, Dr. Matthew Rogers. Having gone to the western frontiers and beyond in order to "learn the Earth", Dr. Rogers made contact with a tribe of Indians of unknown identity. Dr. Rogers was very secretive about his years amongst the tribe. He refused to divulge their identity or location. What is known is that he spent several years amongst them and learned their ways. Dr. Rogers had gone quite native, it is apparent that he had divorced himself from his own people and become a full member of this native society. He became enamored of a native girl and they were soon wed. Their son was born soon after.
The boy (Steven) was raised as a young warrior of the tribe. He was named for Dr. Rogers own father, but what is more interesting is young Steven's tribal name. The Subject would not give us it's true pronunciation, but said only that it translated into english as "Star Bearer."
As nearly as can be determined, at the age of twelve, Subject's mother was stricken ill and died. The death of his mother destroyed his father emotionally. He returned to his native Pennsylvania, bringing young Steven with him.
It was at this time that Steven was first exposed to American society. The culture shock was extreme. Records of fighting and other legal infractions are appended, and are quite numerous. Slowly, the boy became adjusted to his new environment. His father had thrown himself into the academic world upon their return to civilization and Steven was forced to receive a full and proper education, in the space of five years. He became an outspoken advocate for Indian rights, not surprising considering his heritage, and clashed several times with established academia and, indeed, occasionally with the government itself.
It is perhaps somewhat odd then, that when he was of age, Steven willingly joined the military. He became an officer in the United States Army, rising to the rank of Captain in the Calvary. His service record is exemplary. A leader by example, Subject soon acquired a reputation for taking ragtag bands of individuals and forging them into cohesive units. A bright future lay before him.
Until he was ordered to suppress an uprising in the Oregon territories. What exactly occurred is unclear, Subject refuses to discuss the matter, or even communicate in any way when asked about it. The little facts we have, indicate that his unit was killed to the last man, only the Subject survived. The native population they had been sent to deal with had also vanished completely, only a burned out husk of an encampment remained.
Subject resigned in disgrace. Given his highly desirable skill-set, the remainder of his government service was to be under the auspices of the Department of Justice, where he served as a roaming United States Marshall. He is used less as an investigator than as an enforcer. He will ride into a given town and soon, any law-breaking within becomes minimized, though often the population of crippled former outlaws rises dramatically...
BACKGROUND SINCE[edit]
The Marshall has been assigned to a British outfit under the command of a man named Gyrich. The details of the re-assignment are not know to him, but he views it as the US government losing faith in him and has taken the blow rather hard...

- Sharon Carter -Aide to Nick Fury(?). Cap's had trouble focusing since the train back in issue #1.... ((Durn it))
- "Cloudless Moon" -Cap's maternal grandfather. He passed on while Steve was still a young child, but he occasionally appears in dreams or if Steve really needs a hand, in a waking vision.
- Reginald "Buckshot" McClurg. -Every good Marshall needs a Deputy. Think of him as Bucky, with a shotgun. Note: Buckshot is still back in America, tracking down Tombstone, actually...
- Agent Smith -US Army Intelligence. 1880's equivalent of a CIA man. No sense of humor. Deadpan. You get the picture. He was Cap's source of intel and contact with the Government.
Contacts[edit]
- Agent Jones -Smith's colleague and rival. Jones wants Smith's job. Besides that, they could be clones of each other.
- Carter Slade aka Ghost Rider - The Devil's Bounty Hunter isn't above a bit of side work... Note: Yes, I'm swiping Sam Elliot, horse and all... sue me. At least he's contemporary.
- Lord Bowler -Another bounty hunter, this one more mundane. Draws his nickname from the hat he wears. Dumb as a stack of bricks, but dogged, determined, and damn near immortal as only a comedy sidekick can be. He can be counted on to show up at the damnedest times. Note: Yes, I ripped him kicking and screaming from Brisco County Jr.... I needed three. *shrugs*
Enemies[edit]
- Confederate Skull (aka Johnny Red, real name John Smith) - Confederate Colonel who was cashiered for needless brutality towards the end of the Civil War. Has a vast network of terrorists to draw upon called "The Army of the New Confederacy". The Skull is obsessed with the destruction of the United States and the rebirth of this New Confederacy (we call call them the NeoCons for short! ^_~). Of course, he views the Confederate economic model as nearly perfect, if too lenient. He believes the status of slave should not just apply to the black man, but to all who don't share his vision. Note: Based on the SECOND Red Skull: Johann Schmidt.
- Natasha Romanova -Assassin, works for whoever pays. Once, it was Confederate Skull and the target with the good Marshall. He's the only mark who ever got away. It irks her. Note: Considering the time frame, she might or might not be connected to Russian Royalty...
- "Dark of Moon" aka Sam Tombstone - Subject is head of a large gang of marauding thieves that operate in the western territories. The Marshall had been detailed to put a stop to their activities when the re-assignment to the Avengers came in. All that came of the short-lived assignment was tracking the gang to the southeastern portion of the Oregon Territory. Notes: This character isn't based on anyone in the Marvel Universe per se. I intended him to be a sort of "anti-Cap" if you will. Though he doesn't know it yet, the head of this gang will turn out to be Steve's best friend from his younger days with the tribe. Pretty much anything Cap can do, this guy can do too. His resources are limited for now, but I can see Skull hiring him at some point...
- Baron Blood (aka John Falsworth) -From the wiki: "John Falsworth was a British artistocrat, born as the younger brother of James Montgomery Falsworth in the late 19th century. He left England when James inherited their father's estate. John believed the legend of vampires to be real and travelled to Transylvania to seek out Dracula in an attempt to gain power, but instead fell under Dracula's power. Dracula turned John into a vampire, then commanded John to wreak havoc on England." Nuff said? I dun even need to modify this guy... Note: Possible tie to the Marshall... Vampires would probably set off instinctive fear in him as such characters appear often in various Native lore as a perversion of Nature itself.
- Baron Heinrich Zemo -Scientist, of the sickest sort. A weapons manufacturer, he delights in death and destruction...the profit's just cake. Good venue for arming Skull's forces.
Locations[edit]
- The Village: The burnt husk of a small Native settlement in south-eastern Oregon. It was the end of Steven's military service, and possibly much more.
- The "Four-Corners" region of the United States: Where he will always consider home.
- The Offices of Agent Smith in Washington, D.C.: A moderately comfortable suite of offices in a modest building near the Virginia border of the Capital. Few details besides Presidential portraits and one battle-scarred flag. Right now, Steven views the room with disgust, as symbol of all his failures.

- The Avengers: The Marshall's current assignment. What a joke... A prissy English noblewoman, a talking and walking metal box... and him.
