Electromagnetic Control - Mover/Shaker/Blaster/Brute class.

Jack can create, shape and manipulate electromagnetism which (with the exception of gravitation) accounts for almost all physical phenomena observable to the unaided human senses, including light and other electromagnetic radiation, all of chemistry, most of mechanics (excepting gravitation), and of course magnetism and electricity. Unfortunately, the combination of his inexperience and natural human limitations forces him to hold back out of fear of the catastrophic damage he could do to the city and people around him with a lapse in judgement.

Backstory[edit]

When did you first use your powers?

You mean, how did I trigger? I was in the wrong place in the wrong time. I got caught up in a big fight, I never even saw who it was or what was happening. I was just some random bystander, extra number 7 who missed his cue to run away when the time came. Somebody, no idea who, dropped a building on me. It was terrible. I was trapped, under rubble and steel girders and the remains of... let's just stick with it was terrible. So I was terrified. And then, something happened. The pressure stopped. The girders just pushed away from me, moving the rubble with them. For a moment, it seemed like a miracle... but I couldn't control it. Not then. Not now. Apparently, I took out the power for a city block, and did some pretty serious damage besides that.

Who was the first person you accidentally hurt with your powers?

Her name was Jessica Wilson. I only found out about it after the fact, from the newspapers. She was in the rubble with me, when I triggered. I never even saw her. Just unleashed my powers for the first time, and boom, already creating victims. That might have been the most terrifying thing. I never even saw her.

Who, outside the team, can help you control your powers?

Nobody. I've been trying to avoid people who aren't involved in this whole cape craziness. I mean, I still see some of my old friends, just not as much. Okay, I see Sherri once a week, but she's been my best friend since forever. Heck, our families both moved out here together. ...And she does make me feel better. Calmer. Like I can stop thinking about what a danger to everyone around me I am for a little while. So yeah, I guess the answer is Sherri.

Why do you continue to use your powers?

Because if I don't find some way to control them, to help people with them, then the only reason they exist is to hurt people. And I have to believe I have a better purpose for all this power.

Why do you care about the team?

It's nice, having people who can kind of understand and sympathize with what I'm going through, who have my back and share my goals. Mostly, though, it's nice to have people to work with so I can hold back. And most importantly, people who know me well enough to stop me if I stop holding back.

Burn[edit]

When you charge up your powers, roll + conditions you currently have marked. On a hit, hold 3 burn. On a 7-9, mark a condition. On a miss, hold 2 burn and mark three conditions. Spend your burn on your flares. You lose all burn at the end of the scene.

Shielding: You call up a fast protective field to stop a danger. Spend 1 burn to defend someone else from an immediate threat, rolling + Freak instead of + Savior.

Boost: Spend 1 burn to supercharge a teammate’s efforts with your powers, giving them a +1 bonus to their roll as if you had spent Team from the pool.

Worship: You put out a tremendous display of your might. Spend 1 burn to awe an audience into silence, respect, and attention when you unleash your powers.

Overcharge: You channel the full capacity of your incredible powers to overcome an obstacle, reshape your environment, or extend your senses. Spend 2 burn to take a 10+ when you unleash your powers.

Moment of Truth[edit]

Your mind’s eye opens, and you can see the world around you like never before. You can control it, at will, with ease. Of course, warping reality tends to have ramifications down the line, but in your moment of godhood…how could you possibly be worried?

Team Moves[edit]

When you share a triumphant celebration with someone, ask them if there is any fear in their eyes when they look at you. If they say no, take +1 forward and mark potential. If they say yes, immediately shift your Danger up and Savior down.

When you share a vulnerability or weakness with someone, tell them how they could stop you, if it came down to it. Give them Influence over you and clear a condition.

Relationships[edit]

You hang out all the time with Havoc/Aiden to blow off steam. It doesn't seem like a very likely pair to just relax together, but at one point early in the team's foundation, Jack and Aiden found themselves alone in the headquarters, and ended up playing a few quick hands of Misery Poker. A game which, as it often does, ended with both participants realizing that trying to outdo each other was ridiculous, and ever since then they've enjoyed each other's company just because when it comes down to it, neither is afraid of the other and neither is worried the other is afraid of them.

You once hurt Redo/Murillo when you lost control of your powers. Jack once hurt Redo when he lost control of his powers. Murillo had hidden himself behind an illusion during what was honestly a fairly straightforwards fight against the White Hog Sisterhood, when Dynamo got a little show-offy and tried to bring a fight to a quick end. Unfortunately, Redo was in the path of the lightning Jack sent dancing into a crowd of Sisters, and ended up taking the brunt of it. It wasn't hospital bad, thank god, and certainly not scar tissue bad, but it was definitely "Thank God Maggie has First Aid training" bad. Jack still feels guilty about it to this day, and while Murillo barely even thought twice about it, he's not above rubbing his arm or otherwise reminding Jack about it whenever he needs something.
