Azard is a deity within the pantheon of Meamnar.

Dogma[edit]

Viewed by the dwarves as a lieutenant of Belrim, Azard is the protector of the dwarven people. His sole objective is to maintain the safety and prosperity of the race. While every dwarven life is precious to Azard, he demands that his followers be ready to sacrifice themselves for the good of the people.

Clergy and Temples[edit]

Azard's clergy naturally serve as the defenders of their strongholds and communities. Temples to Azard are a mixture of worship halls and training grounds. The divine spells that are studied within these temples attempt to use the forces of the earth to protect the dwarves and attack their foes.

Once members of the faith complete their initial training, they are released from their duties to "find their stone", an expression that refers to a highly personal quest that each cleric is expected to undertake. The exact nature of the quest is up to the cleric, but is often revealed by Azard through a dream or vision. Such quests may involve exploration of an abandoned mine or the recovery of a long-lost artifact, and may take as little as a month or consume the cleric's entire lifetime. Once the cleric returns from this quest, he is expected to return to the temple to accept new duties assigned to him.

Azard's Templars[edit]

Separate from the normal clergy is a sect known as Azard's Templars. These are dwarves who, sometime after finding their stone, are called by Azard to undertake a mission vital to the security of the race.
