An elderly peasant-philosopher attracts a substantial following because of his teachings about the comradeship of all and that the abusive and corrupt Empire had no real authority to rule over the people. This man becomes affectionately named Grandpa Sen by his followers — impoverished farmers, brutalized workers, demoralized dockworkers — and he develops and trains his brothers in a new fighting style utilizing the tools of the common man (harvest sickle, mining hammer, nets, staffs). Together they manage to successfully claim the fortress city of Wun Tuan and create a new community where all shared in both the labor and the fruits of the labor, all under the direction of the Council of Gardeners (led by Grandpa Sen). Yeah, this is essentially a communist kung-fu monastery.
