Mordecai was born to factory-drones in the lower hive, after losing them to an unforseen accident at the Munitorium factory he spent a life living on the edges of society. A fringe-society life he lead, running scams, cons, and petty thievery to get by day-by-day. He learned from the streets of the Hive how to survive and it was the hard lessons he learned that helped him survive a defining moment.

His mates had gotten involved in a little fencing, but the things that were turning up were well, really wierd. Some of the pieces they were trying to move were definately Xeno. Mordecai, or Crisis as he was known by then made some inquiries amongst those with contacts "in the know" and found out the sellers were middle men of some Rogue Trader and their story might actually be true. Which of course, is how he wound up being taken in by the Inquisition. As he was relaying his information to his co-conspiritors and letting them know that although he was no Preacher, the items were Heresy and should be just "chucked at the doorstep" of the nearest Temple, the Arbites busted in. They took everyone in for "Possession of Xenotech". One of the Arbitrators' retinue stepped forward and made them an offer:

"One of you will volunteer to find out where the Xenotech's supplier is."

Crisis beat his fellows to the punch in volunteering by a millisecond. The rest were executed on the spot, right in his peripheral vision. He completed his mission and then was... reassigned as a "Sleeper" not remembering anything that happened before. Until today.
