Physical description[edit]

Benjamin is pretty tall for a human, standing right above 6', with a powerful physical build from a life of labor and soldiering. His dark brown hair and short cut black beard is a stark contrast to his cerulean eyes. He always wears non-flashy clothing, which are mostly just earth toned garments made more for their durability and utility, than for an appealing nature. His visage is mostly stern and contemplative, although there is a deep sorrow lurking in his eyes.

Back Story[edit]

Ben, a young pig farmer, was conscripted into service when he was 17. By then he had a wife and a young child of 1 year old, and a newborn baby. Having served in the Gerdermian Sky Marines as an Axeman and a shock trooper, he is no stranger to hand to hand combat, and his dreams are often terrorized by bloody scenes. As his term was closing he served as an executioner of captured pirates and hardened criminals, although he never enjoyed it. Now that everything has settled down, he has retired from his long stint in service, only to return finding his home in disarray. His pigs were all sold off for his family in order to survive while he was away, and his wife had succumbed to the mysterious plague that had recently enveloped his village. He had sworn never to pick up his axe again until now, at the age of 39 he has resorted to his old trusty friend in order to make a living. Ben took up woodcutting as a new trade, which has proven lucrative due to all the building as the Sky Navy expands it's fleet.

Phase One[edit]

Ben is mostly sullen and silent as he harvests lumber in the Southern Forest. While most Woodcutters work in teams, he prefers his solitude. Meaningless conversation aggravates him, and so the lone rhythm of his thudding axe is very soothing to him. Time alone gives Ben some time to think about things, like why did his wife have to get sick and die? There were many in the village getting sick, but why did it have to be his wife? And why was everyone getting sick all of the time? Father Brown, the village High Priest, was getting offerings from everyone in order to receive his blessings, and often times they worked, well, for a little while at least.

Then one night, Ben stumbled across of group of Kitsune speaking in hushed tones near the town's well, which automatically raised Ben's suspicions. Their conversation seemed to get a bit heated, as they were discussing whether or not to discard something. Ben stayed in the shadows and eavesdropped on the Kitsune, and soon discovered that the community wasn't suffering the effects of a plaque, but that the Kitsune had been poisoning the well all of this time. And what made matters worse, is that they were implying that Father Brown knew about it, and was making a fortune off of the donations from the sick and dying.

Ben became so infuriated at what he heard that he flew into a blind rage, killing two of the Kitsune and injuring the third, as it escaped into the dark night. Although he was frustrated that one got away, he still knew where to find another culprit, at the temple...

Aspect: Vengeful Rage

Phase Two[edit]

It was a cold evening at Benjamin's farmhouse located on the outskirts of the Southern Forrest. Ben was contemplating on just how to confront Father Brown when he was paid a surprise visit from a pair of well dressed strangers that claimed to be from Saiden. The two gentlemen had apparently heard rumors of Benjamin's retirement from the military, and how he may be in need of some financial security.

Knowing that Benjamin had once served as a headsman, they asked him if he would consider doing some wet work. The two strangers wanted Kyran's brother located and violently murdered, and offered to pay off Ben's accumulated debts.

"I am sorry gentlemen, but you are sadly mistaken. I ain't like that no more...", Benjamin declined the offer politely.

After the gentlemen haggled to no avail, they left the farm while speaking in hushed tones. That's when Benjamin recognized one of their voices. It was one of the Kitsune that was at the well, the one that got away! Apparently he didn't recognize Ben from the previous ambush, perhaps it was too dark? The pair of Kitsune also apparently didn't know that Ben actually knew Kyran! Ben struggled with the idea of breaking their necks right then and there, but restrained himself because his kids we're home. But Ben knew that he had to do something, and that he had to do something fast.

So Benjamin hurriedly woke his children, and told them to pack a few things as they were going to stay at Gelma's house down the road for a few days while he had to handle a few things in town.

Benjamin rode hard and fast, finally arriving in Saiden a few days later at around midnight, and was careful that he wasn't being followed. He woke Kyran up at his home and informed him of the two gentlemen, possibly Kitsune, who wanted his brother dead for reasons unknown to him, and that they were up to something, as he thinks that they were poisoning the well too.

" I don't know what's going on around here, but I don't like it," Benjamin grumbled to Kyran. He let his axe slide out from under his heavy coat. " I'm here to help you old friend, in any way I can".

Aspect: Loyalty's Reward

Phase Three[edit]

After Ben and Kyran flew a ship full of fresh water into South Forrest village, and decided to stay in order to provide some semblance of protection for the village, Ben announced a warning to the villagers about the water, then quickly went on the hunt to find Father Brown. To no avail, Ben found the temple empty, and it didn't take long for him to realize that the crooked chaplain had made his escape through the side roads and trails deep in the Forest. Ben knew these trails intimately, and hurried in a desperate attempt to capture the priest, but was slowed as he came across the fresh signs of a large group of bandits that had apparently been traveling through the area. Stealthfully navagating his way through a clutch of pines and underbrush, he came upon a small group of strange travelers who had apparently recently survived a skirmish with the bandits. Ben introduced himself and explained the situation with the Kitsune and the village, and how he was hunting the priest. Then Rassra informed Ben of his situation and how he stumbled upon some Kitsune in the capital. Ben then explained how the Kitsune were wanting to kill brother for some reason, and that he has a airship nearby, as they were assisting the villagers. It seems that the situation is a whole lot bigger than Ben could even conceive, although it wasn't going to stop him from finding out, nor prevent him from finding Father Brown...
