Here's a list of Nations of Winterweir's setting, in case you want to do some international work. These are all kingdoms in immediate contact with Winterweir.

Amania[edit]

The Free Republic of Amania is Winterweir's archnemesis nation. 50 years ago, it brutally overthrew its nobility and sent them to the Slicer. Now, it is a totalitarian and militant country controlled by the Free Council that is constantly cracking down on dissidents and building up its military. The Free Republic of Amania is a Renaissance era nation with Industrial elements (six shooters!). Ironically, Winterweir may be able to repulse the nation in the inevitable war only because it purchases advanced weapons from it.

The Barrier Wastes[edit]

The Arctic Frostlands above Winterweir, pockets of habitable territority exist due to powerful geothermal vents. The Barrier Wastes are filled with ancient crumbling ruins of the Terra'ssar cities that were covered in ice after a terrible disaster and planetary shift. Inside is unimaginable technology and horrible monstrous creatures leftover from their experiments. Some cities are still inhabited by Dragons but most consider the Barrier Wastes a land of wild barbarian tribes and random chimera.

The Border Kingdoms[edit]

A bunch of tiny principalities, kingdoms, and Arch-Duchies set up by petty warlords along the borders between Amania, The Empire of Turlon, and Winterweir. They only survive because their various parent states desire to create some distance between their enemies. Many are nothing more than puppets for one side of the other. Some dream of eventually becoming powerful kingdoms in their own right.

Keldor[edit]

A mountainous and swampy kingdom in parts. The mountains and vast caverns of Keldor (with their appropriate underground rivers) are inhabited by the great Kingdom of the Bathas. Here, fabulous technological wonders exist amongst hordes of slaves. The swampy lands are inhabited by Lizard Men and great plantations where the drug Soyoma is grown in vast quantities for export to Turlon.

Lartan[edit]

A pseudo-Japanese nation off the coast of Alacarn. The land of Lartan is currently trapped in a brutal civil war over who will become Shogun of the island. Lartan is famous for the quality of its swords and also for the fact that it invented airships. Lartan warriors are all from the same military caste.

Lartan uses its airships to trade with Winterweir despite the distance.

Martok[edit]

A tropical island paradise off the coast of Winterweir. Martok is ruled by the evil God-Lich known as Shadow King and the cult of wizards called the Crimson Oath. Most of Martok is inhabited by Lilin who worship him as a god and assist in his plans at world domination. Martok is a known Pirate Port but no one dares invade for the Shadow King's power to obliterate any army with a wave of his hand.

The Pirate Isles[edit]

A thousand tiny islands inhabited by the Ffolk. The Ffolk are a Viking like race of pirates and merchants that feud amongst a hundred individual clan lords while ostensibly paying tribute to a High Queen (who can out cuss and out kill any of them). The Ffolk use modern ships rather than longboats and modern weaponry.

The Empire of Turlon[edit]

The Empire of Turlon borders Winterweir along with Amania (and the Border Kingdoms serving as a buffer state between them all). A decadent and twisted aristocracy ruled entirely by ancient Valken Noble Houses who have millions of slaves, the Empire of Turlon is crumbling and will soon fall completely apart. The border is lined with the crucified bodies and skeletons of millions of slain soldiers that have dared stand against the Empire over the centuries and their depravities are without limit. Invasions are often conducted simply for amusement. Their magic is powerful despite their corruption.

Winterweir[edit]

Which you know.

The Wyvern Isles[edit]

A land inhabited by Dragon-Riders that are divided into feuding tribes. Were the Dragon Riders ever to unite, then they would be nearly unstoppable and able to conquer most of the continent of Alacarn. The Dragons of the Dragon Isles are stunted, for some reason, and lack the awesome might of their predecessor. They do not grow larger than the size of a Young Adult dragon. The strongest are adults and they are extraordinarily rare births.
