Description[edit]

Maka Red Eagle was born in Cannon Ball, North Dakota on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation whose territory covers parts of both Dakotas. The youngest of three, her mother moved her kids to Bismarck shortly after Maka was born after the death of her father and re-married a white man. This was both good and bad. The good was her step-father was a decent man who did his best for his new family. The bad was as they were very far outside the reach of the Standing Rock Sept so were spectacularly unprepared to deal with Maka's violent mood swings and eventual First Change. Quickly hustled back to Standing Rock, the active, headstrong Maka was dismayed to find out that while she both came from a long line of powerful Garou and there was a considerable number in the sept... none of them seemed to want to do anything. As long as the sept's caern was maintained (which was important, Maka would be the first to admit) and the sept secure the elders seemed to have less than no interest in what was going on outside their borders. Maka could both empathize and sympathize at how the Wendigo and their kin were strangled under the Wyrmcomers, but she had first-hand experience they weren't all bad - simply cripplingly ignorant in many ways. Some absolutely deserved no mercy, but as Maka would point out sitting around and grousing about them in the sept didn't actually do anything to stop them. The Bakken Oil Shale was right on their front door and was just ripe for abuse by the Wyrm and still the elders had no interest.

Finally (and possibly in an effort to shut her up), the elders of the Standing Rock reached out to the other Garou in the area to see about placing Maka with an inter-tribal pack. Maka was ecstatic. The only Garou she knew were Wendigo, and had already privately decided they couldn't all be as much of a lost cause as the elders had said, and if they were all young like her surely they couldn't be as calcified as Standing Rock's leaders. At last a chance to do something. Her deed name "False Moon" is something of a backhanded insult, stemming from the fact she questioned her elders' ways more than a Ragabash, and she doesn't use it unless necessary. It kind of hurts.
