Gerhardt comes from a family with a great deal of experience on both sides of the law. His parents' families worked in the Stasi with a side business of running in the black markets of East Germany - working for the Stasi leant an official capacity to their more 'dark grey' activities. Gerhard, looking to rebel, joined the BKA with a focus on cybercrime and the technical side of things. Working a combination of fieldwork and office work in taking on organized crime, he did a little side research on his family's history and came up with evidence of vampiric involvement. Caught up in the revelations, he took this information to his superiors, which proved to be a mistake. Burned out of the BKA, he went independent, working to get revenge on the vampires that twisted his family. This work led to him almost getting killed before he got recruited into the Lancaster Gardening Society.
