Rumors and Hooks[edit]

  • Hooks from Haggryme 1
    • The Shrine of St. Hollyhock - Jappser has been chatting with a local deaconess, Lisabeth Fannigrew, about how the Church needs strong men and women like himself to be a buttress against the "phantom menace" of crookhorns rumored to be gathering in the north. Fannigrew suggested Jappser and his friends explore the area around the Groaning Loch northwest of Prigwort and look for evidence of the lost Shrine. Finding the Shrine would certainly boost the power of the Church and show the crookhorns how the Church are not to be trifled with.
    • Drune-Breggle War Magic - Ursequine's former master Grinwit Wolder once shared a story with him about Hraigl, a breggle woman who was a powerful servant of the Drune 15 centuries ago. Hraigl betrayed the Drune in an ill-advised search for powerful relics, but established the breggle dominion of the High Wold in the process. Wolder was just as fascinated with the ley lines that criss-cross the Aldweald, and how they hide many mysteries. In the process of telling the story, Wolder off-handedly shared the location of a relic (apparently not powerful enough to concern the mage) located on the ley line which passes through the area southwest of Prigwort. Wolder suspected the relic would be easy to recover if it had been gone that long without being discovered.
    • Pipes on Droomen Knoll - Rowan, being a bit of a rapscallion in his former days, has a habit of listening in on other people's conversations. He overheard two constables speaking of reports of crookhorns snooping around the ruins atop Droomen Knoll, to the southeast of Prigwort. Hearing mention of a reward, Rowan inquired more overtly and discovered that Sergeant Marge Bregson will pay 200 gold to anyone who scouts out the knoll and reports back on crookhorn activities. Bregson's companion, constable Rodger Burl, audibly snorted at the amount and stated the reports were probably nonsense, but Rowan noted Bregson's sincerity as regards the offer.
  • Hooks from Haggryme 4
    • Winter Cometh - Jappser picked up a crystal previously owned by a Drune Cottager. When he touched it, he saw a momentary vision. A twitching, slimecoated stag skeleton. It was in a circle of stone monuments. Seven of them. Each composed of two upright stones with a third laid atop. He also heard a voice saying "Ill omens at the Whything Stones. Winter cometh."
  • Hooks from Haggryme 6
    • Frost Elf on the Loose - The party inadvertently freed a frost elf nobleman named Thinwhistle (aka Famine-Whistles-Whither) from his imprisonment at the hands of Prince Mallowheart (aka Prince Seven-Past-Noon), the estranged half-brother of the Cold Prince. Who knows if this will result in good or ill?
  • Hooks from Haggryme 8
    • The Shrine of St. Horace - In the process of examining goods at the market, Ursequine ended up in close proximity with many locals and travelers when ducking under cover from the rain. He overheard one pair of merchants that had recently come down the Lochsbreth Road that runs NE-SW from Odd to Prigwort. The merchants had stopped at an Inn called The Breath of the Kelpie and rumor there was that a group of adventurers had come to the area to look for the hidden Shrine to St. Horace and had disappeared.
    • Mother Smunk's Dream - "This is not something that would happen overnight but it has been a dream of mine for a long time. As I'm sure you are well aware, I am of breggle descent. Though the Church saw fit to place me here as a young acolyte, I grew up in Lankshorn. There are few breggles on this side of Dolmenwood and it would be lovely to get more of them to know the joy of the Saints. If you could send a mission to the High Wold, seeking shorthorn initiates to the clergy... well, it would be a wonderful thing for Prigwort and for human-breggle relations. I could not reward you with gold but the Vicar of Prigwort has other means of honoring the loyal servants of the Pluritine Church."
