Background:
His story begins years before his birth. His father was a loyal General of the Empire of Jin. Serving with distinction, he was a loyal soldier despite his emperor's mannerisms. It was not until a courtier in the service of Hell clan managed to convince the Emperor that his father was plotting against the Throne and that he should be dealt with. He was sent on a suicide mission, to fight a battle that he had little hope of winning. It was hoped that he and his men would perish, but remarkably they survived. They did not however succeed, and the effort crippled him.

Sent from court in disgrace, they believed that he was harmless. He took residence in a small villiage at the root of a mountain. He took a wife, a young peasant woman named Isa. He had hidden much of his fortune, but lived comfortably. She bore him a single son, Kun Han. It was not the family name either had been born with, but they had taken it to live in peace. On the day of his birth, their house was struck by lightning three times.

But a dark hatred and a bitter rage was born in his father's heart, a rage that passed from father to son as he was taught the ways of combat and strategy. Every day was training, in writing, politics, or warfare. His schooling was his life, and thus he lived a solitary existence. Those he did get to know were martial artists that his father had convinced to help train him or simply to spar with boy. His mother took ill and died soon after he was born, though none could name the contagion

On his eighteenth birthday, his father spent 20 days and nights forging a sword of unique quality. At the end of final day, he plunged the sword into his own heart. His cooling blood tempered the steel, leaving the blade a blood red. With his last words, he bid his son take vengeance on those who had done such evil, men who by his own oaths of loyalty he couldn't touch.

He set out to avenge his father and hunt down those responsible. He soon realized that a single man had no hope of accomplishing what he suggested. He knew he was committed to his course, but it would take time to accomplish all that he sought. To shatter one of the great clans and overthrow the Emperor would require allies, weapons, power, and skill. He could not remain blinding apolitical as his father had been. He would need to seek those who could aid him on his quest as well as those who could provided him with the power to do as he so desired. And it would allow him a chance to take all that was theirs as they felt their world crumble into ruin.
